I'm sorry I take you for granted, I'll be more appreciative.

For the last week or so, I have been chosen as the lucky one to suffer the good seasonal cold. With that comes headaches that last for days and the lovely congestion that drives you to the point of insanity. Being sick has inspired me to write about the things we don't realize we take for granted until we're sick.

1. Breathing Through Your Nose

We do this every day. But while we're doing this every day, we don't realize that in a 24-hour time period that can be taken away. Suddenly you have to breathe through your mouth in order to survive.

2. Chapstick

Breathing through your mouth constantly dries your lips out like no other. Not to mention the cold weather on top of that.

3. Eating Without Taking Breaks to Catch Your Breath

I was casually eating apple slices the other day and had to take a break before I suffocated and died. EATING APPLE SLICES!!!!

4. Mom/Caregiver

The people you live with help you when you're feeling puny. Whether it's a text in the middle of class asking,"How's your nose?" , or buying you stuff to make you feel better.

5. Swallowing Without Wanting to Cry

Luckily I skipped out on the sore throat this time. When that does happen, I want to cry every time I have to swallow.

6. Chicken Noodle Soup

It's a classic. Whether your throat hurts, you have a cold, or it's just cold outside. It has some type of healing ingredient that fits any case.

7. Behind the Counter Medicines

Dear Mucinex D, you are my lifesaver. Although I have to hand over my license to prove I'm not making meth, you are indeed worth it.

8. Tastebuds

I love to eat. But when I'm sick, nothing has a taste (which is depressing). I passed up Cheddar's spinach dip simply because I cannot taste.

9. Rest

Sleep is life as it is. But when you're sick it's the ultimate healer. Shoutout to my 9:00 bedtime every night.

If you're suffering from the wonderful common cold, head over to today.com and read about Home Remedies for the Common Cold. Best of luck and wishes for fast recovery!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
