9 Things To Be Thankful For After Thanksgiving

During Thanksgiving, what we're thankful for is topical conversation... but what about after?

9 Things To Be Thankful For After Thanksgiving

The week of Thanksgiving is usually one of the only weeks of the year we make it a priority to be actually vocally thankful for things, which is absurd!

Here are nine totally awesome things we can be thankful about after the Thanksgiving holiday as we begin the month of December.

1. Christmas Music

Now that Thanksgiving has passed, it's become socially acceptable to listen to Christmas music. When you want, where you want, and all you want. *rejoice!*

Here are two of my favorite Christmas jams: "Silent Night" by Johnny Cash and "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" by Michael Bublé.

2. Kermit Memes

All across the board, Kermit memes usually leave me laughing hysterically, or internally screaming. I can't get enough of them.

3. Looking forward to the future where Lorde could potentially release a new album?

IT HAS BEEN THREE YEARS SINCE LORDE RELEASED AN ALBUM. Could 2017 be the year? I've had my fingers crossed for an album drop from Queen Lorde since this time last year... and since... the release of her first one...

4. Christmas Movies

This is the time of year when all those fantastic movie channels start playing Christmas movies.

Every.

Single.

Night.

Here is a link to Freeform (previously ABC Family)'s 2016 25 Days to Christmas lineup!

5. All the Holiday Makeup Collections

Some of the very exciting holiday collections to keep an eye out for include:

1. Urban Decay's Holiday Full Frontal Reloaded Vice Lipstick Set $325

2. Lush Cosmetics Father Christmas Wrapped Gift Set $49.95

3. Too Faced Grande Hotel Café $49

4. Zoella Beauty Spa in a Jar $13.80

5. Stila Star Light, Star Bright Highlighting Palette $39

6. Christmas Candy

As soon as Halloween ended, Christmas candy of all sorts started stockpiling on shelves in Wal-Mart, and just about every other store you can think of. My favorite holiday candy to keep stashed around? Hershey's Cherry Cordial Kisses. You can find me with them under the mistletoe.

7. Christmas Shopping

I love Christmas shopping! I love that feeling of buying nice little presents for the special people in my life. I also love getting involved in gift exchanges, because I love the mystery of secret gift exchanges. Also, Christmas wrapping paper is just too fun.

8. Elf reruns on TV

No explanation necessary.

9. She and Him Christmas Albums

God bless Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward for the creative take they've gifted us with the She and Him Christmas albums. Seriously, Christmas time would be very different without them.

I'm beyond glad that it's now a socially acceptable time of year to bump these festive jams at all hours of the day.

So... Maybe all the things I have to be thankful for after the Thanksgiving holiday have to do with Christmas time, but that's just fine with me.

Some of the more important things, like family and friends and home cooked meals I felt went without having to be said (because I'm thankful for all three at all times of the year, especially during the week OF Thanksgiving).

What are some things you're thankful for? Share, comment, and let me know!

Happy Holidays! :)

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
