9 Things That Happen When You And Your Best Friend Are In A Long Distance Relationship

Your best friend is your soulmate. She's also the person you need when you need a reality check, when you need advice, and when you need the more important questions in life answered: "If there's running water on Mars and there's talk about life on Mars, do you think Mars has an alternative universe of all of us? And maybe in that version of life, we live together?" She's the person you watch "every-TV-show-ever" marathons with, and the person you sit in silence comfortably with because with any other person, that would be way too awkward.

But, it's hard when you don't go to the same school with your best friend. It's even harder when she's 893.01 miles away from you all the way in New York. You don't get to see her until Christmas (which honestly seems like lightyears away), but up until you run to each other in the airport like a cheesy romantic comedy movie, here are nine things that will inevitably happen when you and your best friend are in a long distance relationship:

1. You have singing/serenading sessions together.

When you can't drive together in the car with aux cord plugged in and the volume up high, it seems only right to do it via FaceTime. It's not weird when you have Fergie playing on both of your Spotify's (for optimal volume, obvs.) and you're both screaming the lyrics alone in your room. And then, there's always those nights when your best friend's version of saying thank you for the advice that one night is singing "True Friend" by Hannah Montana to you which, of course, turns into an hour long Disney throwback session. That's what I call a great Friday night.

2. Double text is risky? Let's talk about twenty-five texts in a row.

While the people around you are hesitant to send that double text in fear of coming off as annoying, you and your best friend have got the texting system down. If she doesn't answer in five minutes, you already know that one text will turn into twenty-five. It's alright, though, she'll most likely do the exact same thing when you're in shower or you dozed off in class. We have each other's backs like that.

3. You have to start coordinating naps because your phone will blow up in the middle of one if you don't.

Fifteen texts. Two missed calls. One missed FaceTime call. This happens too frequently if you always forget to tell her that you're about to take a nap. Or vice versa. And if she tells you to only wake her up if the situation is a 8 on the 1-10 important scale, there's a 100% chance every situation will be a 10. C'mon, even she can't tell you that your outfit for the night out this weekend is not screaming "THIS IS A 10 SITUATION!!!! WAKE UP!!!!"

4. You become the extra roommate.

You have all of her friend's numbers and she has your roommate's. Everyone follows everyone on social medias, as well. You know all of her roommates and what they're going through - mostly because you're on the phone with her almost every second of the day. When you meet them in real life, it seems a bit weird that you feel like you've known them like you've been living with them yourself but at the same time, it's not, because y'all are basically best friends.

5. 2 a.m. FaceTime calls are normal after a wild night out.

When either one of you goes out that night, and FaceTime's the other. You'll say it's on accident, but deep down, you know yourself it was on purpose. After all, a night out isn't a night out without her by your side. And if she can't be by your side physically, you might as well include her via the virtual world. Also, with every night filled with drama, she kind of needs to be updated every minute of the night.

6. Days without conversations start to feel like weeks.

If you haven't talked to her in one day, it suddenly feels like it's been two weeks. You never really realize how much you tell her and how much you need her until you're slumped across your desk with three tests ahead of you completely immersed in the studying land of hell. It's even harder when she tells you to call her tomorrow because yeah, you have to study, and yeah, you need to pass these tests. And when you do call her, the calls usually last five hours too long with unnecessary yet extremely necessary stories to tell.

7. People always think you're talking to a S/O. Nope, just your best friend.

Too many people ask you if you're texting your boyfriend/girlfriend because you've been on your phone, smiling, for hours on end. They think you're flirting with a boy but really you're sending each other funny videos and pictures. Not to mention the fact that you text sappier (and long, very very long) messages to her than your roommate does with her boyfriend. But, honestly, who are you kidding? Your best friend is your S/O.

8. Somehow, both of your minds are on the same track and you end up thinking the same thing. Always.

Whether it's what's for lunch or it's what to watch on Netflix or what to say when it comes to boy advice, you and your best friend always end up saying, doing, and thinking the same thing. Sometimes, you end up wearing the same outfit, eating the same foods, watching the same movies; either way, it's a feeling of sheer satisfaction and content knowing your best friend has the same track of mind as you. You picked a good one. Well done, you.

9. Making future plans to live with them one day because, right now, being so far away...it's too much.

No matter how great the times you have when you are together are, missing her when she leaves is always a thousand times harder. Saying goodbye and hugging her tightly not knowing the next time you'll see the best person in your life is too heartbreaking. And, every time, when you're both in college and you need a best friend day where you both sit on the couch and eat ice-cream and watch cliché romantic comedies, you vow to her that you'll be living with her as soon as you both graduate from college. New York better get that studio apartment ready, because right now, being so far away from her...it's just too much for you.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:
