9 Things That Happen When You Have Wanderlust
The Getaway Life

Wanderlust is defined as, "a strong desire to travel." Some people say it's something you're super into when you're young, but I'm pretty convinced I'll be traveling for the rest of my life. Some people will use all of their money for clothes, makeup, food, and so on. I, on the other hand, would way rather use my money to buy a ticket to a destination I've never been before. There's something so special about getting on a plane and flying somewhere new, and getting to experience new cultures. Here are a few things that happen when you live and breath traveling.

1. You find yourself randomly looking up plane tickets.

You're doing homework and then all of a sudden you're searching for plane tickets and prices. You know, just to check of course.

2. Airports are pretty much your second home.

You know how to navigate them pretty well, and getting through security for you is now the easiest thing in the world. You have ridden pretty much every airline there is and you know all of their carry-on policies. You could probably be the poster child for airports if you wanted to.

3. Going somewhere new excites you more than anything else.

Going on different soil pumps your adrenaline. Even if it's a new city in your own state that you've never visited, going new places excites you so much. Stepping off of a plane and breathing different air brings automatic joy.

4. One of your goals in life is to fill up your Passport.

Filling up your passport with all of the stamps you possibly can is on your bucket list. You want to go everywhere, and by everywhere, I mean, everywhere.

5. You love meeting new people.

Not only do you love going to different places, but you love meeting new people. You love experiencing different cultures and how people in other places live. You love being able to say that you have a friend in every state, if not multiple countries around the world.

6. You adapt well to different cultures and environments.

You probably have experienced culture shock once or twice in your lifetime, but give it a few weeks or months, and you can fall in love with any new culture or place. You easily get attached to different places around the world, and find yourself always wanting to go back and visit.

7. You can't stay in one place too long.

Staying in one place for too long makes you uneasy. You're constantly planning trips, getaways, and adventures. You probably have a list of friends to contact whenever you're feeling the urge to travel, because you know they'd hop on the plane right along with you.

8. You have learned how to pack your entire life into a small suitcase.

People are usually extremely surprised when you pull twelve days worth of clothes out of a tiny duffel-bag.

9. Your bank account suffers, but you think it's definitely worth it.

Half of what you make ends up going to plane tickets and traveling expenses, but you count it as completely worth it.

If you experience wanderlust just like I do, traveling is not just a part of your life, but a part of you. You figure that there's no better use of time and money than seeing new places, meeting new people, and experiencing different cultures. You crave adventure and travel. I wouldn't take back this part of me for the entire world.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
