1. They prefer to show, not tell

When it comes to relationships they prefer to keep things private. They may post pictures on social media, but they aren't the type to put all of their business out there.

2. They'll go out of their way to please you with thoughtful gestures.

Since they aren't the best when it comes to showing their emotions, they'll go out of their way to make sure you feel loved and appreciated. They'll spend hours on Pinterest coming up with creative gifts and letters to make sure you understand how much they value you. Or text you while they're put with their friends, just so you know you're always on their mind.

3. The walls they've built serve a purpose.

Often times they come off as indifferent and not too bothered by what others say. But this is usually just used as a cover up to mask previous heartbreak and pain.

4. They're afraid to appear weak.

Being emotional makes you vulnerable, and they don't want to potentially be taken advantage of.

5. It's hard for them to open up to themselves.

They've kept their feelings and emotions bottled up for so long, that sometimes it's hard for them to admit that they're really hurting. When they do start to embrace their emotions it can be extremely difficult for them to control.

6. Your words can really hurt them.

They've almost mastered the art of making it seem like nothing you say can hurt them. When you jokingly call them a "slacker", or "too quiet", or too bold it really does hurt them, just like it would hurt you. The only difference between you and them is that they can hide it.

7. They're not afraid to give you space.

Sometimes absence really does makes the heart grow fonder. Occasionally in relationships you need a little space from someone in order to appreciate them more.

8. They tend to be more independent than your average person.

Sometimes it's nice to have some breathing room and be able to just recharge.

9. You'll become more important to them in ways you'll never fully understand.

They don't just open up and share their deepest, darkest secrets to just anyone. So consider yourself lucky if they've opened up and shared things with you because obviously they trust you and value your friendship.

Christmas Tree

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
