We don't realize how much they really care.

You may not realize it but your parents teach you a lot more then you think. They are the ones who change your diapers, teach you how to walk and talk, feed you, and most of all they teach you about the world. You don’t realize how much you have to thank your parents for until you are older.

1. Life is not as easy as it seems.

They may make it seem like everything is perfect but I was taught very young that life isn’t as easy as it seems. You are going to have to deal with people that you don’t like and there is nothing you can do about it. Work and home life may be stressful but everything will get better in time.

Don’t think that just because you are having a bad day that it means you should make the rest of the week bad. We all have bad days and we all have good days but I was taught that it’s the way you deal with those things that affects you the most.

2. You are going to have to deal with loss.

Chances are you have lost someone in your life so far and if you haven’t then I can promise you it is bound to happen. When you’re little you don’t realize how much your parents protect you from what can really hurt you.

Most of us grow up thinking that our pet hamster ran away but we later find out that it died when we stayed a grandma’s house one weekend. At a young age I was taught that people will come and people will go but you have to remember then by the memories that you shared.

3. Raising kids is a lot harder then it seems.

Take a second to look back at a time where you really put up a fight with your parents. Now take a second to imagine what it would be like if your child was acting that way to you. It may seem like it’s hard raising a kid but honestly you have no idea until you are older how hard it really is.

A lot of time dad works overtime to help put food on the table and take care of your family. You don’t really understand how much your parents do for you until you have old enough to do those things for yourself. Raising a kid can put a lot more stress on you then you think.

4. There is no reason for you to be perfect.

There is no reason for you to be completely perfect. If you were then there would be nothing for your parents to teach you about because you would already know it all. Your parents aren’t asking you to be number one because all they really want is for you to do your best. If you are being the best you can be then that’s all your parents can ask for from you.

5. You let me learn my own lessons.

At some point in my life you decided that it was time you took the training wheels off and let me go. You have taught me what is right and what is wrong. From there you let me learn from my own mistakes. For that I am grateful, without teaching myself I wouldn’t be as responsible as I am today. I have taught myself what it means to be independent and how to care for myself. I wouldn’t have been able to do so if it weren’t for you letting me go like you did.

6. Family will always be the most important thing in life.

You may not agree with everything they do but you know they always have your back. It doesn’t matter if it’s 2 a.m. on a Friday and you need boy advice because you can’t sleep. They have your back no matter what is going on and even if you aren’t getting along at the time you still know if anything happened they still would be there for you. Your family is your first best friend and forever will be.

7. Growing up sucks.

No one wants to grow up and pay for bills. If you had a choice wouldn’t you want to stay young forever. Growing up doesn’t just suck for you, it also sucks for you parents too. They start off changing your diapers and then it becoming potty training and before you know it they are watching you do the same with your kids.

8. You deserve the best.

Your parents never want anything bad to happen to you. That’s why they know that you deserve the best and only the best. They always have you back and you don’t realize how true that is until you grow up.

That’s why they wont let you stay out past 11 p.m. on weekends because they know that something bad could happen to you. At the time you may be mad because you aren’t able to do the same things that all the other kids are doing but they only want the best for you.

9. Don’t ever forget that you are worth it.

You are taught at a young age that people are going to try and drag you down. Don’t let them because you are also taught that you are worth everything in the world. Your parents would do anything to keep you safe and its pretty clear when they say it. They may not be able to take care of you forever but they still make you know that you are amazing.

Theater Kids

Throughout school, the theater department has always been my go-to place with go-to people when I need advice, a dance party, or just someone to listen to me vent.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.
