9 Things Only an Oakleaf Knight Would Know...

Nine things only someone who was an Oakleaf Knight would understand.

Oakleaf High School is a big school with lots of classrooms, more portables and even more students. Even though its a big school, everyone seems to know each other somehow. You know these people from friends or from the stories roaming around from them. And if your were a new student, you were only the "New Kid" for ten minutes before the next one comes rolling in.

As I'm preparing to leave for my freshmen year in college, I talked to some of my friends about things we remembered throughout our years at Oakleaf.

1. Dress Code

Whether it be for the holes in your jeans or the little bit of cleavage that popped out when you pulled your shirt down in attempt to cover your leggings, everyone has somehow experienced Dress Code. Although the highlighter yellow shirt and fire red pants were hideous, they were very comfy! And who can forget when we made national news for the disastrous, "Shame Suit"?

2. Broken Air Conditioners

Everyone knows that this is the worst thing that can happen and it always happens on the hottest day of the school year. It felt like satan was roaming the halls with us. Teachers even stopped teaching because it would get so hot. The only thing that would get you through the day the A/C was broken was either having your mom call and get you out of class or sitting in the portables.

3. Brazelton's Store

Those mornings when you thought you couldn't make it, Brazzy was there to save the day with every snack and drink you could think of. Starbucks Coffee, Gatorades, Cups of Noodles, even Candy. It was all there, and it was all there to help you get through the day so you didn't have to eat the questionable school food.

4. Always on the News

It felt like every week there was a new reason of why we were on the news. News vans was always in front of the school or in the parking lot when we pulled up in the morning. You even got the occasional fame of walking in the background as they were live.

5. FCCLA Cookies

If you were in any of the Early Childhood Education classes, you know exactly what I'm talking about. And if you were in FCCLA, you know what its like to have EVERYONE stop you in the hallway and ask if you had any with you. They were always warm, chewy, and delicious. I spent most of my Early Childhood days making them and eating them. 3 for $1, who can beat that?!

6. Atlantic Coast Game of 2014

Easily the most rememberable game in Oakleaf's history. 9 seconds left in the game, Atlantic Coast was winning, 14-10. Somehow, by a hail Mary, Darius caught the ball and ran it into the end zone, putting us up 16-14. Best. Game. Ever.

7. Knightmares

Tailgates. Themed games. Roller Coaster(Check no.9). These are all wonderful things that add up to what the Knightmares are. Everyone knows who they are, they bring the spirit and fun with them any event they go to. Advice: Join the Knightmares.

8. The Famous Roller Coaster

Whether you are apart of the Knightmares or not, you have done the famous Roller Coaster at least once. Nothing gets you more pumped up for a game than the roller coaster and who does it better than Oakleaf? No one.

9. Stay Golden

This has and will always annoy us, but once you graduate you'll miss the little reminder at the end of the day for you to do your best.

No matter how much you dread the years at Oakleaf, wishing to be done with it all, these little things will bring some of the happiest memories back into your mind. Once a knight, always a knight. "And remember knights, stay golden!"

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:
