The Star

With school approaching and summer ending it is only normal to reminisce on summer jobs... right? Well, if you are a nanny or babysitter it is. Face it, you're constantly telling your friends and family stories of "your kids" and laughing even harder the more times you tell it. You quickly become attached and find it hard to say goodbye as August approaches.

1. Learning Every. Single. Word. To That One Movie

Every kid has their favorite movie, and wether you like it or not it because your favorite too. Learning every word is just the beginning, soon enough you'll even have the different voices down.

2. Being So Exhausted You Could Fall Asleep Standing Up

Seriously, Parents, hats off to you. Children have more energy than an entire pack of Red Bull and it's hard to keep up all day.

3. Thinking You Will Finally Have A Minute To Yourself During Nap Time

Ha. You think they're napping, but really they are drawing on themselves or playing instead of sleeping. (It's kinda funny when they come out covered in marker though).

4. Hearing "Can I have a snack?" What Feels Like Every Five Minutes

Kids are bottomless pits. They eat an entire meal and are hungry 20 minutes later; if only that metabolism stayed will us forever.

5. Meeting All The Kids In The Neighborhood

Never having just "your kids" but a few extras over too. You never mind, in fact you enjoy it. It's always fun until nap times arrives and then nobodies happy.

6. Knowing Exactly How Many Kids You Want

Ask any child care worker and they'll more than likely be able to tell you how many kids they want. Working with kids definitely gives you perspective.

7. Going Out In Public And Having To Explain Yourself Over And Over

It is like people forget there are nannies and babysitters in the world? You take the kids out in public and suddenly you are getting judgmental stares because you don't look old enough to have kids.

8. Having A Love-Hate Relationship With Your Job

You love your job and you wouldn't trade it for anything. You are in charge of taking care of these little humans (who occasionally make drive you crazy) but also make you smile on your bad days. Even on the days you may think you don't feel like working, once you get there you are instantly reminded of why you love your job.

9. Having The Best Job In The World

Okay, this one may be bias. But seriously, who wouldn't love endless hugs, tons of laughs and getting paid to hang out with little kids all day?!

With each day or work there is definitely a new adventure. However, we all know we wouldn't trade our jobs for anything. So here's to the awesome kids that make our jobs so hard to say goodbye to.

(For Girls Who Are Interested In Greek Life)

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
