I cannot remember a time when I was not walking around the house singing my heart out, or asking "Can you turn on the radio?" the second I got in the car. I confess, I am obsessed with music, and I know there are many who share my passion. So, here are some things you may relate to if you are a music lover:

1. You look forward to car rides.

It makes you extremely happy to hop in the car and do nothing but listen to some great music for a couple of hours. Whether it’s listening with your headphones while gazing out of the backseat, being the DJ with the aux cord and jamming out with people you love, or driving by yourself and singing to the top of your lungs, listening to music in the car is practically the best thing ever.

2. Cleaning isn’t so bad either.

When you have just created a fantastic playlist, I dare say you get excited to clean?! It doesn’t make it your favorite task in the world, but music can be a ray of sunshine amidst your mundane chores.

3. You are constantly on the hunt for old songs that “take you back.”

Music has a magical way of transporting you to the past, and it is amazing to go on that journey. Certain songs can vividly remind you of dancing around as a five-year-old or getting ready for school as a middle-schooler. When you find those songs, it is enchanting.

4. Concerts are one of the best ways to spend your money.

Sitting down (or standing up) and listening to your favorite songs come alive on stage is a remarkable experience. You can have the time of your life singing and dancing along to melodies sung by incredibly talented people. You may or may not remember buying that new pair of shoes, but you will always remember going to that concert.

5. It is impossible to workout without music.

If you forget your headphones at the gym, forget it. Once you find upbeat songs with the perfect beat, your workout can feel more like a dance party than a formidable feat. Sometimes, I have to stop myself from clapping or doing some dance moves on the treadmill—it’s just so hard to fight the urge to jam out.

6. You make a playlist for everything.

Parties, trips, seasons, events, doing work, getting ready for bed, getting ready for the day —they each deserve a selection of songs to fit the mood. Your hard work of handpicking the best songs pays off when the time comes to listen to your playlist and it is excellent.

7. You instantly connect with people when you have the same taste in music.

Your opinion of others suddenly improves when they play some awesome music. When they put on that slightly unpopular song that you thought you only listen to, you’ve found a friend.

8. You hate when the “honeymoon phase” with a song wears off.

You know, when you listen to a song and think, “Man, I used to love this song. Now, it’s just okay.” There is a time for everything and you have to let it go. But, don’t worry—there will be a new song you are obsessed with soon. And maybe you will hear the song ten years from now and appreciate it in a whole new way!

9. You get overwhelmed with the amount of music there is in the world.

Ahhhh, so much to listen to, so little time! It makes you a little upset that there are incredible songs out there you have yet to discover. Also, you are sometimes baffled by the human capacity to create so many different songs. We will never run out of good music.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
