Everyone claims to be lazy at times, but very few people know a true lazy person. We love sleep and food, but to an ungodly extent. We try to avoid effort and work at any cost, and honestly we would be perfectly content by spending the whole day in bed. I know this sounds extreme but it is very true; being lazy means subjecting your body to the most minimal amount of work. Being lazy is far from easy but it definitely has its benefits. I for one greatly enjoy it and although it aggravates others at times, I am happy with the way I am. Other people do not understand our struggles and pleasures but together we connect over our lack of motivation. Here are a few things that "normal" people will not understand, but us lazy people will greatly appreciate.
1. Our definition of "exercise."
For most people, exercise means going to the gym and working up a sweat. For us lazy people, walking to the bathroom is enough exercise for the day. I for one count that as an accomplishment as I try to expend the least amount of energy possible.
2. Too much sleep is not a thing.
At any time of the day a nap sounds like a good idea. Honestly, I sleep for 15 hours a day, and if I don't then I know its not going to be a good day. I once even slept through a one o'clock class and felt no shame. Other people do not understand how great sleep is, but I for one take advantage of sleeping whenever I can.
3. Having servants is a must.
Ever since my brother could walk, I trained him to be my servant. Whether it is bringing me food while I watch TV or delivering a message to my mother, he always does it. Yes, I may bribe him at times but hey, at least I didn't have to get up. I think we have a great relationship.
4. Phone calls beat walking.
Even if my mom is just one floor below me, I choose calling her on the phone rather than walking. Although she does get agitated and annoyed that she has such a lazy daughter, at least I'm happy, and isn't having a happy child every mother's dream?
5. To walk and get food or to not?
This decision is honestly the most difficult decision for lazy people. Yes food is amazing but is it worth the long and torturous walk? Ever since I came to college I debate this decision every day and usually my laziness wins and I suffer with hunger. So much for having an unlimited meal plan when I only use it about 5 times a week.
6. Being on your own is a lot of work.
Now that I'm in college, I have to do my own laundry, make my own food and be responsible. This is just too much work. I miss the days when my mom did everything and I just got to sit back and relax. Growing up is difficult.
7. Netflix nights are the best nights.
Netflix means staying in bed and no social contact. Honestly conversing with people and being social is a lot of hard work and I would much rather have a quiet night in with me, myself, and I. No problems, no drama, just me enjoying "Gossip Girl."
8. People come to you.
Whenever you hang out with friends you always insist that they come to your house because this means you don't have to move. Driving is a lot of effort and you would much rather stay put. Most of the time you end up watching TV with your friend, but at least you are attempting to be social.
9. Your bed is your best friend.
This is no exaggeration; you and your bed were made for each other. Your bed even has a large indent due to the ungodly amount of time you spend in it but you wouldn't change anything.
Being lazy can be quite hard at times, but it is part of who you are. Most people just learn to accept it while others are amazed that you can be that sluggish. Sloths probably move more than you, but hey, as long as you are enjoying life everything is good.
