1. Constantly explaining that Ohio isn't all corn fields and that you don't live on a farm.
Yes, Ohio has major cities. No, I don't live in the middle of nowhere.
2. Ice cream is very important.
Jeni's and Graeter's have our sweet tooth covered, and we love each for different reasons. If exotic flavors aren't quite your thing, Graeter's specializes in the classic flavors.
3. The Ohio State Buckeyes are everything.
Even if you grew up in Columbus but moved away for college, chances are you still consider yourself a Buckeye. Don't even try going downtown on home game days, and expect everyone you see to be donning scarlet and grey.
4. The zoo is top-notch.
Literally. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium ranked as the U.S.'s fifth best zoo in 10 Best's Readers' Choice contest. And it just so happens that a baby polar bear was born there within the past couple weeks, and everyone is freaking out about how cute she is.
5. The struggle of having approximately two seasons.
The two seasons are summer and winter, and occasionally we experience both in the same day. (The joke here is that we actually do experience all four seasons, but complaining about Ohio's weather is kind of our thing.)
6. North Market is where it's at.
Ice cream and pastries? Fresh produce? Foods from around the world? You name it, North Market's got it.
7. You are always discovering free things to do in Columbus.
From exploring the Book Loft in German Village to strolling through Gallery Hop in the Short North, Columbus will keep you busy.
8. You forget what it's like to be really stuck in traffic.
Unlike Chicago, New York, or Los Angeles, you won't break into a cold sweat trying to get into downtown Columbus. Unless it's an Ohio State football home game day or rush hour. But even then, it's not that bad.
9. You know that Columbus deserves to be more popular.
Columbus often feels like one of the best-kept secrets just waiting to be further discovered and explored.
