9 things every college student does when they go home for break

  1. HOME COOKED MEALS. You know you missed mom's home cooked meals. Anything but dining hall food! Even after eating in town or ordering out, all that food never measures up to the meals cooked at home. Everyone has that favorite dish their parent makes…and 4 months is too long without it!
  2. Long, nice, clean showers. Enough of the small crammed showers with awful water pressure, I need my big shower with changing water pressures. Not even that but just being home in your own clean shower where your roommates, or your whole floor hasn’t shared. And no more flip flops in the shower!
  3. Sleep all day in their comfy beds. My memory foam mattress topper at school is nice and all, but there is nothing like laying sprawled out in the queen size bed at home. With all the comfy blankets and pillows and just the feeling of home while you sleep, I’m only getting out of bed if mom made dinner.
  4. Attack their pets. Way too long without seeing your furry friends. You pick them up, squeeze them, and take a million pictures with them. You’re convinced that you’re taking them back to school with you.
  5. Have parents do their laundry. Being on your own with responsibilities is good for you, but once you’re home forget it. Someone else can do my laundry, and it just shows up nice, clean, and folded in my room.
  6. Drive, drive, drive. Oh, how I missed my car. Not allowed to have a car on campus, so when I’m home, I’m driving anywhere. The grocery store? Someone needs to get picked up? I’m on it! I’m going around picking up all my friends, running all types of errands. Anything to drive.
  7. See their friends. Nothing is like seeing all your friends you moved away from. When you all get together it’s like nothing’s changed. Everyone’s hanging out, laughing, pigging out. You realized how much you missed them, and you love hearing all the different college stories. Especially those from your friends who went really far for college! It’s always fun getting the gang back together.
  8. Shop! Yeah you’re a broke college student, but when you’re home, mom lends you some money to go buy more “school clothes”. We all know that’s just an excuses to buy more clothes, it has absolutely nothing to do with school. It’s always nice to come back to school after a long break with some new outfits, instead of always wearing the same only sweatshirt and leggings that your classmates have seen you in for the past 3 weeks straight.
  9. Annoy the crap out of your siblings. For the first couple days you’re home, it’s all lovey dovey with your siblings because you missed them, but soon enough you’ll be right back to sibling rivalry. They think they missed you until you steal the remote and put on your favorite shows, use all the hot water in the shower, and leave a mess everywhere you go.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
