Most people know of Courtney Love as the former wife of the lead singer of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain. But Courtney is more than just a wife. She's the queen of grunge, a Golden Globe-nominated actress and one of the most influential female voices from the 90's. She has created a fire that has yet to cease in the world of rock and Hollywood culture. Here's a list of 9 things we've learned from miss world herself.

1. She taught us to be powerful.

Wise words to take charge and be a leader rather than relying on people who won't take you where you need to go.

2. She taught us to get back up, stronger than before.

In the face of tragedy, heartbreak and whatever else has gotten you down, Miss Love has taught us giving up is not an option.

3. She showed us girls can rock too.

In her famous words, "I want every girl in the world to pick up a guitar and start screaming."

4. Courtney showed us how to be forces of nature.

The epitome of Courtney's personality is to never let anyone walk over you. Get the respect you know you deserve.

5. That it's okay to be whatever you identify as.

Courtney is a long standing ally with the LGBTQ community even back in 1997, when she won an award for fashion, she spoke openly about accepting all sexualitie, "...We need to respect each other and ourselves, and respect who we are and what we are and not be afraid to be what we are whether we're gay, straight or insane." The full speech can be watched here.

6. That rape is never okay and it's never the victims fault.

Courtney and Kurt did a Rock Against Rape benefit concert together back in 1993 (seen above), raising money to bring awareness to the horrors of sexual violence. Love also openly discussed the wrongs of victim blaming in interviews.

7. She taught us to flaunt what you have and feel no shame.

Nothing wrong with glitz, glam and crowning yourself royalty. No matter what anyone thinks of you, stand tall and to keep on shining.

8. To never be boring.

Being raw, passionate and eccentric has always been Courtney's style.

9. She taught us to live through anything

From her famous 1994 album, Live Through This, Courtney has taught us to survive unapologetically.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.
