9 Things College has Taught me

College is either the best four years of your life or the worst, but either way everyone will take away something from their college experience. College has taught me many lessons about life and myself. Because I could write a book about my college lessons, I’ve narrowed it down to my top nine.

1. It’s okay to have mental breakdowns!

It doesn’t matter how often or when they occur because every student gets them.

2. Stress eating is great

Hello freshman 15, along with reoccurring mental breakdowns comes stress eating. If you’re having a bad day go get Dunkin Donuts ’ or eat a plate of fries… it helps trust me!

3. Group projects suck

Like every college student, you’ll get stuck in at least one group project with the worst members. Although it is extremely frustrating, buckle down youngin’ your professor knows who put in the work… and if not there’s always karma right?!

4. Boys suck more than group projects

College is a time of change and growth as a person, yeah it would be nice to have someone to share such a special time with but most college boys act like little kids. So girls stay away and be independent!

5. Reverting back to being a child is okay

What does this mean, you may ask? It means that rainy days are meant for naps and Disney movies. It means that if your grumpy chances are you’re just hungry and overtired.

6. How to juggle

Okay not literally how to juggle, but more metaphorically like how to balance work, sports, school and my not so existent social life. Although at times it may seem overwhelming its really not that bad.

7. Procrastination can be your worst enemy

At the time it may seem like a great idea to hit up Lloyd’s on a Wednesday night when you know you have an assignment deadline approaching. Trust me its not, sometimes instead of eating wings you have to sit in the library and put in work, after all you are paying $40,000 a year to attend college.

8. Friends are good, Friends are important.

We all need to have a support system at times or just a crew to hang with. Step out of your comfort zone and talk to new people that you have class with or run into on campus.

Lastly my most important lesson…

9. How to have fun

College isn’t all about studying and getting that 4.0, it’s also about having fun. Whether its going out on Friday night or simply eating dinner with your friends, it is okay to put down the books for a while. After all you are only here for four years, so sit back and enjoy the ride.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
