Summer is already more than halfway over. Most schools start back up in a little over a month! Before you freak out and panic about how you have spent most of the past month eating Chipotle in your underwear and binge-watching Netflix, take a deep breath. I have created a bucket list of things you need to do (other than swim) before you have to pack up your bag with textbooks and notebooks so you're able to say you did something more than catch up on all of your sleep!

1. Watch a Netflix series.

I know I just said I created a list of things other than watch Netflix, but this is still a must! You have to binge watch Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl, Friends or some other show that has 100+ episodes if you want to be able to relax.

2. Hike!

No matter where you live, you can find a place to hike! Exercise is important, and if you bring your friends along, it will be a blast.

3. Go on a shopping spree.

Take one of your paychecks and spend it all on some new clothes before the rush of school shoppers floods the mall. You'll get all of the steals and deals before anyone else, and let's not forget just how great some new clothes feel, am I right?

4. Get all of your friends together for a game night.

Board games may seem too young for our generation now, but I promise you, they always make a good time! If you have the right group of people, you can create teams and things get competitive. Whether it's Monopoly, Cards Against Humanity, or Mad Gab, you're guaranteed a fun night.

5. Make a trip to the beach, even if you live in the middle of America.

Even if you have to pay for hotels or sleep in your car, you have to make a trip to the beach in the summer. It's a rite of passage for everyone during this sunny season!

6. Spend time with your family.

A lot of things on this list have revolved around experiences with friends, but make sure to include your family as well, especially if you're in college. You only have a few summers left that you'll be able to spend at home before you leave the nest for good. Make some memories with them.

7. Take a class on something that has always interested you.

Just because you aren't in school doesn't mean you have to stop learning! Look into yoga or cooking classes in your area now that you finally have some time for yourself.

8. Go on a road trip.

Choose the friend with the biggest car and pack everyone in it. The more, the merrier (and the less each of you will pay for gas)! Choose a destination that excites all of you and have some fun!

9. Most importantly, take lots of pictures.

I'm not encouraging you to always having your face in your phone, but when something happens that makes you laugh, smile, or even sad, take a picture of it. It's always so great to stumble across a memory that once triggered such a strong emotion. When you capture a memory, you'll never lose it.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
