9 Best Things About Working With Kids
Barron and Berry

I've been blessed to work for a childcare center the past few years, not only was I working with wonderful staff but I was surrounded by kids. There are time when working with kids can be stressful, or overwhelming but in the long run, despite the bad behavior and the screaming, there is nothing more rewarding than working with kids.

1. The brutal honesty

Although it can be harsh at times, kids will never lie to you. If your new haircut isn't cutting it, they'll let you know-but they won't judge you for it.

2.The never ending laughs

Kids are the most entertaining people on earth. Whether it's a funny one liner or a whole skit they put together, you'll never stop laughing when you're around them

3. You get to be a kid again

When you're working with kids they aren't gonna judge you for letting loose and have fun. You can finally play with barbies again and no one can say anything bad about it.

4. It doesn't seem like work

Maybe it's just me, but even when I'm babysitting I don't feel like I'm working. Entertaining kids and doing crafts with them is fun to me, it makes to work day fly by.

5. Speaking of crafts...

Once you reach middle school your craft time is seriously cut down, but when you work with kids you can literally do crafts all day.

6. Becoming a role model

Probably the most rewarding part of working with kids is when they tell you that they want to grow up and be like you. Setting a good example for them is reassuring that you're making an impact.

7. If you miss a few days it's a party when you come back

Every time I was gone, even for a few days, when I came back to work I was met with cheers and smiles from all the kiddos. Just another things to smile about, and a reminder of how much they look up to you.

8. Seeing the impact you have

When you spend weeks mentoring kids in the same environment you get watch them grow and learn, the most rewarding part is when you get to help them with that

9. They care for you and others so deeply

Kids are so accepting of everyone, and they feel bad if they hurt someone's feelings. Some of them have different ways of showing it, whether it's an apology or a cute card they'll always try to make you, and everyone else, smile.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
