I am as white as a piece of paper. There is no changing that. I have been as white as snow for as long as I can remember, and there is no way that I will ever walk inside from being out in the sun with a sun-kissed glow. It just is not happening!
It can be a bit annoying being this pasty, so here are nine struggles of being super pale.
1. Always getting a sunburn
One time I walked to my friend's dorm which was about ten minutes away, and I got a sunburn on my neck! It is nearly impossible for me to go anywhere outside without worrying that I will look like a lobster by the end of the day. I had to start putting a bit of sunscreen on my neck just to walk to classes during the day.
2. Always needing SPF 100+
Sometimes I forget my sunscreen and have to ask my friends for some, but they pull out some stupid SPF 25 which is not helpful at all! I always need my beloved SPF 100+! If it isn't the most protective sunscreen, it is not useful to me at all.
3. Looking like you have on white tights
This sounds super weird, but one time a lady told me that she thought that I had on white tights. Nope, my legs are actually just super white.
4. Being asked if you are albino
Someone once asked my friend if I was albino and he jokingly told them that I am. I think that she still believes him. I may be pasty white, but I am not that pale.
5. People telling you that you need to go outside
My whole family tells me that I need to go outside more so that I can tan. I cannot tan!! I go outside just about every day, and nothing happens except I get a nice red tattoo over my whole body.
6. Literally glowing
If light shines on my legs it is so reflective! I always joke with people that they will need sunglasses when they first meet me.
7. People asking me if I am from Norway
Yes, this actually happened. I was in Epcot in Disney World, and a worker at the French bakery asked me if I was from Norway. Nope, I am definitely from the United States. The blonde hair and blue eyes probably didn't help either.
8. Telling my friends we have to sit in the shade
If my friends ever want to just sit or eat outside, I always have to tell them to find a place in the shade. It can be an inconvenience, but I really just don't want to worry about getting a sunburn.
9. Blending into the wall in pictures
If I am trying to take a photo, sometimes I just blend into the wall. I have to have the perfect lighting so that my face doesn't magically disappear, and I look like a pair of floating eyes.
