it is beyond easy to get caught up in work and/or school, but it also really important to take time out of your life to make sure you are doing things for yourself and appreciate what life has to offer. I have made a list of things that you might try doing to make the most out of your life, and it includes things that everyone can do — no matter where you live in the world or your financial situation.

This list might sound obvious to some of you, but I can say that a lot of us take most of these things on this list for granted.

1. Appreciate the little things.

This sounds so simple and obvious but it can be extremely easy to get caught up in the chaos in life and take things in my life for granted.

2. Get outside.

Go for a walk, run, hike, canoe ride or even a backpacking trip. Being outside just makes everyone so much happier and can really help you live in that moment.

3. Surround yourself with good people.

Look at the people you are spending your time with, because life is too short to spend your energy on people who have a negative impact on you. Surround yourself with people who appreciate life as much as you do!

4. Do what you want to be doing.

Whether this applies to your work or social life, this is so important. Enjoy what you do and find passion in all aspects of life!

5. Be present.

I am not going to be the one to tell you to stay off your phone but just know that experiences are made in real life and they are once in a lifetime.

6. Don't worry about things that you have no control over.

This is one of the hardest things to do but it is so universal. Try not to compare yourself to others or get upset about what someone posted on Twitter. Those things are so small and don't deserve your attention if they are going to ruin your day.

7. Do what makes you uncomfortable.

To an extent; do what makes you uncomfortable but not so uncomfortable that it is traumatizing. That's a good life motto, right?

8. Try not to take everything too seriously.

Depending on the circumstances, this could be really good for you. Try your best not to overanalyze things that people say or overthink a certain situation, I know it can be really easy to, but it can really bring down your mood.

9. Discover new passions.

It could be a new bike trail or a new bookstore, but going out and discovering something new is an irreplaceable feeling.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
