1. Exercise 3-4 times a week.
GiphyWhen you exercise, the sweat that comes from your face gets rid of all of that nasty bacteria that is causing the pimples to form on your face. Also, with a healthier body, comes better skin.
2. Make healthier eating choices.
GiphyJunk food will cause those pimples appearing around your chin and lower cheek area. Eating healthy food is always an easy preventative for acne in that area.
3. Wash your face
Okay, everyone, it's time to realize that makeup wipes aren't fully cleaning your face. If you're not washing your face with a trusted non-harsh cleanser in the morning and at night, then you're letting the oils on your face clog your pores. Use a makeup wipe, but don't stop there. I have tried many face washes, and the one I recommends most is the Clean and Clear Morning Burst Cleanser.
4. Use a face mask 1-2 times a week.
Face masks are the saviors if you want your pores to unclog and be less visible. There are so many different options when choosing face masks that you can match it directly to your own skin type and what you're trying to target.
5. Use a spot treatment.
Ah, spot treatments. These little suckers can make your acne shrink in size overnight, or even get rid of a stubborn pimple. You want to get a spot treatment with either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide in it. These to ingredients are the best ways to get your acne to disappear. You can use these treatments twice a day, once a day at night, or every other day depending on your tolerance.
6. Use a toner without alcohol.
Personally, I use the Thayers Witch Hazel: Rose Petal toner. Timers are used to help even out your skin's pH and to overall make your skin look better. Timers help with your acne and shouldn't be left out of a skincare routine because it helps correct your skin. I use my toner after I cleanse, and then again as a makeup setting spray.
7. Moisturize every morning and night.
Moisturizing is so important, I can't stress it enough. There are so many options out there if you have oily, combination, or dry skin. This step comes last and it's one of the most important steps out there. For me, I recommend the Cera Ve moisturizer. It doesn't make you feel too oily, and it's super light on the face while still getting the job done.
8. Consider starting birth control.
Birth control was an overall lifesaver for me. The reason I started the pill was that my acne was bad, and my hormones were very unregulated. Birth control does so many other things than the common use. It can help with your period by making it shorter and less painful. It also helps with your hormonal acne, by making it mostly go away as long as you're consistent with your daily intake.
9. Go see a dermatologist.
Many people need more help than the products you can get over the counter. My issue was, even with the strict skin care routine I was following, my acne wasn't going away. When I visited my dermatologist he prescribed me a topical treatment called EpiDuo, and an antibiotic called Acticlate. Within a month my acne was almost completely gone. Even if you don't think your acne is bad enough to see a dermatologist, go anyways if nothing else is working for you.
