As a whole, people add meaning and importance to songs, which is why music and relationships coincide with each other. This may be corny, but I think everyone can agree that certain love songs can be the perfect description for certain relationships. Let’s be real, every couple has that one song that defines their love.

When you find that perfect someone and fall in love, there are special memories shared during this time, and more than likely, those memories can be traced back with a song. The first date you two go on is a perfect example; your significant other picks you up, and as you are riding to the destination, there is that one song you hear that stays with you forever. Music can make a stronger connection between two people just by the lyrics and melody of the song.

If you and your significant other need an update on songs to listen to together, I’ve got a perfect playlist for you two. It’s a mix of the classics and the new ones we’ve come to love.

1. "Kiss Me" by Rebel, Sophie Simmons

This is definitely a classic with a little modern remix, but either way, this song always sends a positive message for all couples. The connection between two people and their kiss is what this song is talking about. When listening to the lyrics, one can assume that the way one another kisses can bring a spark into the relationship and light up each other's world. So get kissing, couples, and illuminate that spark in your relationship!

2. "Ho Hey" by The Lumineers

If you haven’t listened to these lyrics, you need to. Every word in this song is the epitome of relationship goals. In this song, they are saying that they are perfect each other, and that they complete each other. Who wouldn’t want this to be their song with their significant other? If it were me personally, I would hope that my boyfriend and I felt this way about each other.

3. "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton

The way Eric talks about a girl in this song is tremendously beautiful. His significant other asks an array of questions about him and herself, and every time, he answers, “Yes, I feel wonderful tonight.” He continues to compare her to beautiful things and confesses how much love he has for her. I swear whenever I hear this song, I get the feels and hope that my boyfriend thinks about me like Eric Clapton does.

4. "I Won’t Give Up" by Jason Mraz

At first someone can easily mistake this song as a ‘break up song,’ but if you listen to what Jason is saying, it simply means that he isn’t going to give up on the love that is developing with his significant other. Overall, this song is a perfect explanation for a couple to reassure one another that they won’t give up and that they are there for each other.

5. "Forever" by Chris Brown

Here’s another reassuring song for you two. Chris says that no matter where and no matter what happens, that it will just be the two of you forever, dancing in “love” together. In a way, you can perceive this song as a way to compare dancing with the rhythm of a beat to the love and the way our hearts beat for each other.

6. "Like I’m Gonna Lose You" by Meghan Trainor, John Legend

Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of true love instantly, whether I’m in a relationship or not. The lyrics are beautifully arranged, as they tell people to love each other as if they were losing them and running out of time with each other. In other words, this love will be stronger than ever, and you need to love as if it was your last time to love.

7. "All of Me" by John Legend

John Legend is the most poetic songwriter I think I have ever heard. The way he writes his songs, they just peacefully go together and make sense. In this song, he explains how his significant other completes him and brings the best out of him. He will give himself all to her and hopes for the same from her.

8. "Because Of You" by Ne-Yo

Who doesn’t love a little Ne-Yo throwback? I think we can all understand what he’s trying to say in this song. So if you are feeling some type of way, like how Ne-Yo does when he says he is addicted to her, then this is perfect for you two. He also reiterates that the time in a day or night is never enough to be with that special someone.

9. "Can’t Help Falling in Love" by Haley Reinhart

The title gives it away, but no matter what, this song fits well if you are in a new relationship with someone and starting to fall in love with each other. If you are timid to fall in love, you should listen to this song to ease the nerves. Feelings and falling in love just happen, no one can hide it or run away from it. Just embrace the love you have for each other.

Happy listening and stay in love, couples!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
