It is so much more than food; it is a craving, a habit, an addiction, it is…sushi. If you or someone you know shows five or more of these signs, congratulations, you have been diagnosed as a sushi addict! No shame needed, embrace the signs and let your love for sushi shine.
1. Your bank account
As a broke college student you have to prioritize your spending and if you are a true sushi addict you are always sure to make room in the weekly budget for sushi. You are even willing to cut back on coffee, gas and even alcohol for the weekend when money is tight.
2. You dream about sushi.
Do you ever wake up from a dream; mouth watering, stomach rumbling, heart hurting because you’re dreaming of... that’s right, SUSHI. Well, have no fear because you are not alone. If your case is really severe there are even “Sushi Addicts Anonymous” groups you can join on Facebook and other social media sites.
3. Frequent flyer cards
If you’re lucky enough to have a rewards card at your sushi restaurant like I do, you will fly through them. It’s a great excuse to add an extra roll (or five) every time you go.
4. You experience it all.
If you’re a true sushi addict you’ll venture to try it all. A new sushi craze is the sushi burrito. I can promise you that once you try it, life will never be the same. If you are like me you know the closest sushi shack in all directions that serves it up burrito style.
5. You crave sushi at all hours.
You wake up wanting sushi and having to wait until somewhere opens. Sitting in bed at night craving sushi but everywhere is closed and nothing else is fulfilling your sushi craving.
6. It’s your go to dinner, lunch, and snack suggestion.
“What are you in the mood for?”
“Sushi.”
No matter what time of the day it is or who you're going out to eat with you can never go wrong with sushi. With that said, you know all the best sushi places around town.
7. When you see it, you want it.
Whenever someone posts a picture, video, or Snapchat of sushi you secretly (or not so secretly) become filled with jealousy.
8. Sushi addicts unite.
You are instantly drawn to those around you who share your love for sushi. If your friends don’t already love sushi they will after hanging with you.
9. It never gets old.
No matter how many days a week you eat sushi, it never get’s old. If you’re an extremist you may even eat sushi more than once a day.
In my opinion, a sushi addiction is the best kind of addiction you could ever have. Although your wallet may not agree your taste buds and heart overwhelmingly will.
