Introvert (/ˈintrəˌvərt/):

1. A shy, reticent person; a person predominantly concerned with their own thoughts and feelings rather than with external things.

Now, If that definition doesn't quite explain the term enough for you either, another way to describe us introverts would be as the people who keep to themselves/ hide from others/ avoid people at all costs. Keep in mind that there are varying levels of introversion; you may know the most extreme introverts as hermits or shut ins, but the majority of us fall somewhere in between "see you later" and "see you never." Still not sure if you're an introvert? If you identify with any of the following signs then there's more than likely a little bit of introvert in you too.

1. You hide in your room.

Maybe not so much "hide" as "never leave." Your room is your safe haven. Besides the occasional family and/or roommate, it is your sanctuary away from the world of social interaction.

2. You prefer Netflix to people.

Would you rather binge watch 3 seasons of Grey's instead of going to lunch with friends? Yeah, me too.

3. You prefer books to people.

Do you prefer to read the entire Harry Potter series in one sitting to going out on the weekends? You aren't alone.

4. You prefer interacting with just about any inanimate object to actual people.

Oh hello there Mr. pencil! How are you doing today?

5. You hate public speaking.

Absolutely loathe it. It doesn't mean you're necessarily bad at it, it just gives you anxiety.

6. You love social media.

Interacting and speaking with people without actually interacting and speaking with people? Sign me up!

7. Texting > Phone Calls.

The less direct contact, the better.

8. You have weird obsessions.

Yes I know just about all there is to know about Hamilton The Musical, what else am I going to do with all of the time I'm not spending with other people

9. You recharge by yourself.

The main difference between introverts and extroverts is that introverts recharge in solitude, while extroverts recharge by being with others. An introvert would much rather curl up in bed for some down time rather than go party hopping with a group of friends.

Odds are that at some point you've exhibited one of the previous signs. This doesn't mean that you're a full blown introvert-- even the most extroverted people may show signs of introversion every once in a while. If you're anything like me, all of the above apply to you, and that means that you are a full blown introvert my friend. Welcome to the family! Just don't expect to see us very often.
