Connecticut may be a small state, but we are a state that enjoys good food. Below are a few popular food joints amongst Connecticut residents in particular:
1. Duchess
This gourmet food chain is often taken advantage of by Connecticut residents, but once you leave the state, there are none to be found.
2. Ferris Acres Creamery
A Connecticut classic. This creamery is located on a farm in Newtown, and serves fresh ice cream that is made daily by cows on site!
3. Merritt Canteen
This notorious burger joint was on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives! It also serves mouth-watering greasy food, even into the late hours of the night.
4. Frank Pepe’s Pizzeria
Originally opened in New Haven and has spread around Connecticut, with the exception of one location in New York and one location in Massachusetts. This is what makes Connecticut pizza arguably some of the best in the world.
5. Sally’s Apizza
Like the billboards in New Haven advertise, it’s Apizza, not a pizza.
6. Chip's Family Restaurant
Want pancakes? Go to Chip’s.
7. Diners (Orem’s, Penny’s, just to name a few)
Diners are everywhere, but there’s something about Connecticut diners that are different from the rest. Take Orem’s or Penny’s for example, they not only provide fantastic food for a low price, but the diners are also typical hang out spots for high schoolers.
8. Garden Catering
This Deli that originated in Connecticut, and only has two locations in New York, is known around the state for the best chicken nuggets and french fries, and you can’t forget their seasoning!
9. Stew Leonard’s
This grocery store chain that started by Stew Leonard, who is a resident of Norwalk, CT, only have two locations in New York and the rest are in Connecticut. This supermarket stands out from others because not only is everything made fresh in the store, but it also provides entertainment for customers with restaurants, petting farms, and seasonal hay rides.
