Christmas is over, trees are coming down and we are getting ready to welcome 2016. We all know what comes next. It’s that optimistic time, where we are all trying to better ourselves and planning our New Year’s Resolutions. I know my resolutions come to a halt around mid-March, and I know for a fact, so do many others. While our new year motivations help to fuel our own individual desires, what about the idea of a universal resolution? These are ten things that should be on everyone’s New Year’s Resolution list.
Be healthy
Being thinner may sound appealing, but rather than focusing on a number, focus on a lifestyle change. Chances are, no one knows how much you weigh, anyway. Focus on living a more active and rewarding lifestyle, rather than trying to look like the next candidate to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
Be nicer
No one likes a meanie. Take the time to give compliments, show appreciation, and care for someone, more than you may already do. At the rate the world is going, I think everyone, including myself, could highly benefit from being nicer to people.
Be more appreciative
I’m certain there are luxuries to your life. Take the time to stop, look around, and be thankful for all you have. Understand the value of simplicity as well, and remain cognizant of your blessings- even if they’re as simple as taking a stroll on a seventy-degree winter day!
Be determined
When it comes to bettering yourself physically, mentally, or emotionally, it isn’t an overnight process. Stay on track, keep your head on tight, and stay true to yourself and determined to become the best possible version of yourself.
Be more optimistic
Debbie Downer? Try to keep a more positive outlook on life. There are so many possibilities and opportunities that accompany just waking up in the morning. Don’t sweat the small stuff, and realize how peaceful and wonderful life is. Understand that nothing in your life is the cause of the apocalypse, and just remain positive through what may seem like the end.
Be the best version of yourself
All of these ideals ultimately lead to being the best version of you. No one is perfect, we all have flaws, and therefore, we can all improve. Changing simple, everyday things can truly facilitate the best lifestyle possible. Why not change things to better yourself? Numbers, sizes, relationships, and work aside, take the time to appreciate all around you, and, more importantly, yourself.
