All Fall Everything.

9 Reasons Why October is the Best Month

It's finally October! Not only is this my absolute favorite month of the year, but it's also arguably one of the most under-appreciated. Despite all the people complaining about the weather getting colder and summer being over, these are the reasons why October is really the most wonderful time of the year.

1. The weather

It's finally cold enough to pull out your flannels, sweaters, and scarves. In other words, you can now hide your body under layers of clothing. No more of that "bikini body" hype.

2. Hot drinks

Even if you aren't one for the Pumpkin Spice Latte craze, there's still hot apple cider, hot chocolate, tea, and plenty of other ways to warm you from the inside out.

3. Carving pumpkins

No matter what anyone says, you're never too old for this fall tradition. Whether you create an intricate masterpiece or just roughly cut out a few jagged triangles, it's still a wonderful way to express your crafty side and get a little messy (maybe even slimy).

4. Pumpkin everything

As soon as October hits, the store shelves become instantly lined with the pumpkin version of everything and anything imaginable. Not all of it is particularly appetizing (the pumpkin spice tampons are taking it a little too far), but it's still exciting.

5. The leaves

Why do dying leaves smell so good?! I have no idea, but I love it. Not to mention the amazing array of colors and the satisfying crunch they make with every step you take.

6. The routine

It's been over a month since school started, so you can finally feel settled and get into the swing of things.

7. 13 Days of Halloween

For thirteen straight days of family-friendly Halloween-themed movies all in one place, look no further than ABC Family. This movie marathon practically defined my childhood, and there's no way my age will stop me from watching it again this year.

8. The Scare Factor

Lovers of horror rejoice! From classic scary movies-- might I suggest The Sixth Sense and The Shining?-- to haunted houses and corn mazes, it's the perfect excuse to get scared out of your mind with friends; all in good fun of course.

And finally...

9. Halloween!!

Costumes and candy, what's not to love? No matter how you spend this holiday, be safe and HAVE FUN!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
