Having been vegan for almost 4 years, I can safely say that I love all animals. But there's something about dogs that is so insanely special. They have the power to put smiles on peoples' faces from one look and make peoples' days from the wag of their tail. I've been blessed with so many amazing animals in my life and some of my absolute favorites are my/my friends' dogs.
1) They're dorks.
There's no denying dogs are weird - but also hilarious. All of their crazy antics make us laugh like no tomorrow and love them even more.
2) They're the best cuddlers.
Nothing quite like snuggling up to your favorite pooch after a long day of forcing yourself to be social!
3) They love you unconditionally.
Dogs don't care what kind of car you drive, shoes you wear, what size your clothes are, whatever it might be. All they want is food and someone to love them back.
4) They know when you're sad...
Dogs have an uncanny way of knowing you're depressed before you do. Their owners are their family, so if you're upset/depressed, they're likely to feel the same way.
5) ...and they do whatever they can to cheer you up.
Because when you hurt, they do too. They'll do anything to make you happy and distract you from your problems, whether it's rolling a ball to your feet or giving you lots of kisses.
6) They help keep you fit.
We get dogs so we can exercise and play with them, but it's not just a one way street. They're playing with and exercising us too!
7) They help us make friends.
Dogs act as catalysts for social interactions; other dog owners love to talk about their canine friends on walks. When they're out and about, other people love to meet them and their dogs.
8) Dogs can literally save lives.
From being service dogs/emotional support animals to sniffing out bombs, dogs prove their courage and versatility over and over again. Studies have also shown dogs can smell different types of cancers and can tell when their owners are about to have a seizure.
9) Owning a dog makes life worth living.
Having a dog requires a lot of responsibility; another living thing is depending on you to keep him safe and healthy. Dogs also need a schedule/routine to make them feel comfortable. Having something that relies on you so heavily, always waiting for you to come home, can be extremely fulfilling. Even as we grow older, having something to care for and love brings more happiness than one can explain.
Why do you love dogs?
