Women's rights are something that many people consider to be natural and given in today's societies. Some don't even think of them as an issue because they assume women are treated equal. There are still some milestones left to take in the world of women's rights, but I am here to write about some things that make me proud to be a woman.
1) Our ancestors met for the first women's rights convention in 1848.
2) We earned the right to vote in 1920.
3) The first birth control clinic opened in 1916, by a woman.
4) Amelia Earhart flew across the Atlantic in 1928.
5) In 1933, Frances Perkins became the 1st female member in the cabinet.
6) Sandra Day O'Connor was the first women on the supreme court and began her term in 1981.
7) Joan Benoit won the 1st Olympic marathon in 1984.
8) Madeline Albright became the 1st female secretary of State in 1997.
And last...
9) Leslie Knope... enough said.
So ladies, keep your head held high and never let a man get you down. Girls... we run the world.
