The people are as sweet as our tea

9 Reasons We Love The South And Always Will
Ashlyn Lewis

From Texas to Tennessee, there are countless reasons we love the South. Here are just nine:

1. The views are spectacular.

Almost everywhere you go in the south is going to be beautiful. Whether it's mountains, farms or rivers; the south has you covered. It's absolutely beautiful in your backyard or at the top of a mountain.

2. We wear chacos.

Once I got my first pair, I would never regret the decision. They're good for most everything! I can only count a handful of days that I haven't worn them. So many adventures await with your adventure buddies (your chacos of course!)

3. The south has perfect weather.

We get every season to perfection. The winters are cold and the summers are hot. No matter which is your favorite, you get both! Schools cancel every snow day so you can enjoy playing in the sand or the snow!

4. We have the best rivers.

People from all over the country come to raft down the Ocoee river. In the south, you're just a short trip away from a grand adventure. Whether you want a relaxing evening or take your chance in a tube, the river is waiting for you!

5. Sweet tea

I've heard rumors of sweet tea in other parts of the country, but I'm convinced it's a myth. If your tea isn't 75 percent sugar, you may want to consider moving. The sweet tea is the staple of the south because their ain't nothing like it!

6. Southern accents

Even though we claim we don't have accents, we secretly love them. We may not all say "howdy," but we do say "ya'll" and "sweetheart." You don't have to tell us it's cute, because we already know.

7. The people are as sweet as the tea.

No matter where you go, conversations can be started with close to anyone. No one is too busy to strike up a conversation about the news or politics. They can also be just as mean as they can be sweet if you mess with the wrong people. That southern hospitality goes two ways. You better expect a "yes ma'am" and "no sir" while you're here.

8. Home to the Bible Belt

There's a church on every corner. Not every single person in the south is a church-going Bible thumper, but there are God-fearing men and women anywhere you need them. Plus, we all know there's got to be a good God to put us in the good south.

9. The pick-up lines are like the pick-up trucks.

There are countless pick-up trucks, but only one pick-up line. For the ladies, no matter what part of the south you are from, you'll be the only 10 any man can see. But we all know they're not wrong; all the pretty girls are from the south.

Thank God we live in the south.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
