9 Reasons Trump's Acceptance Speech Swayed Me To His Side

For this entire election, I have been watching very closely at the debates and speeches of all the candidates. Between Hillary and Trump, I could not stand behind either. After watching Trump's acceptance speech for the Republican nomination, my mind has been changed. Here are nine reasons Trump swayed me to his side during and after the acceptance speech.

1. He Toned It Down

I was never a fan of the red-faced, mud-slinging behaviors Trump showcased in his previous debates. Calling out other candidates for things that the public needs to know is acceptable and expected. But bullying and degrading other candidates for unrelated things is disgusting. He didn't make fun of the way Hillary looks or the way she talks. He was talking about actions and policies. Not trivial things.

2. He Showed He Cared

He talked about groups of people and communities that are in desperate need for help. (For example: Ferguson.) He reached out to communities of people in a new way. In the past, he talked about the horrid examples and used them as a figure for the community--he assumed the worst. But in this speech, he showed he cared.

3. He Showed His Kids Are Wonderful

Donald Jr. and Ivanka stole the convention. They proved that their father knows how to raise his kids. They presented proof of his leadership.

4. He Didn't Act Like A Child

He didn't bite when the crowd started chanting "lock her up," and he stayed on track.

5. The Media Was Grasping At Straws

After his speech, the media was doing anything they could to make it sound horrible. When I watched it, I was shocked and impressed. Then, they started trying to make it look ugly. CNN then released a poll of what the viewers thought. He swayed almost 80 percent of watchers to his side according to their poll. Immediately after showing this poll, CNN tried to discredit their own poll! Then stopped talking about it. The headlines after the night were strictly negative. It doesn't make any sense!

6. He Was Right About Democratic Corruption

He has been screaming about the corruption of the Democratic party and the schemes to end Bernie Sanders. With the latest leak of emails, it shows he was 100 percent correct. And the media is--you guessed it--silent.

7. A Reporter Seemed Persuaded

Before the convention speeches, it was obvious one CNN reporter's goal was to showcase division. She was talking about "Never Trump" stickers and trying to get conflicting views on the floor. After the speech, she was filled with energy and excitement and only said positive things (even when her co-workers were going against her).

8. America Seems Scared... He Is Not

From my family to talks I've had with people all over the country, people are scared. He knows this, and shows he is ready to fight.

9. Showed Love For People

I was not a Trump supporter... at all. My vote, as a Christian, was for the candidate that shows love for others. God doesn't let us pick whom to love and whom not to love. Trump finally showed love.

This was only a speech, but he showed me a light at the end of the tunnel. Again, this is just a speech, and one convention isn't the cornerstone of my vote. I will be watching the Democratic convention and all the debates to come.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
