1. Fall!
Halloween is in October and October is the main month of fall. Plus,
it’s also the best, because it’s cold enough that you can start wearing
cute sweaters and fuzzy scarves and combat boots, but not cold enough
that your outfit gets covered up by that big, fluffy parka that your mom
made you buy last year.
2. Halloween!
Even though we’re all too old to still be socially accepted as trick-or-treaters, we still get to dress up in funny, sexy, or scary costumes and let out our true weirdo. Plus, the weeks after Halloween are followed with candy being on major discount, and who doesn’t love that? Speaking of which . . .
3. THE CANDY.
This is the best. You get to eat a crap
ton of candy and you don’t have to listen to your parents or
grandparents telling you to check it, to save it, or slow down
because you’re going to give yourself a stomach ache later. You’re an
adult, gosh darn it, and you will eat as many Kit-Kats and Twix as you
want! And none of that gross, questionable candy that comes in the weird
wrappers.
4. The Halloween decorations!
Let’s face it: getting your house all decorated and putting up cute
decorations in your house is super fun. If you know where to shop,
you can get them at a good price, too. It’s also really cool to see all the
houses lit up, and the big (sometimes scary) decorations.
5. Haunted houses.
Okay, while I’m not a huge fan of haunted houses, I know a bunch of my friends are, and they’re all too excited to get the crap scared out of them by some guy in a mask chasing after them with a chainsaw. And, if you live in a big city like Buffalo, you know that there are plenty of haunted houses to choose from.
6. The costumes.
As I said in #2, Halloween is the time where we all get to dress up and be someone (or something) that we’re not. It’s always super cool to see what gets put out next and what everyone will want to be. My roommates and I have all gone in twelve different directions with our costumes, but I know a lot of people at college get to experience the fun of doing a group costume, and they always look super fun. One day . . .
7. Scary movies.
Halloween is the best time to break out the old classics, and of course, look forward to the new ones to come. You get to curl up with some of your besties with some hot apple cider and popcorn, and scream every time there’s a stupid jump scare that always manages to catch you off guard.
8. Halloween parties.
Whether
you drink or not, getting dressed up and hanging out with a bunch of
people who are also dressed and ready to play fun Halloween themed games
is always a great time.
9. It’s the day before my birthday!
Secretly, one of my favorite things about Halloween is that it’s the day before my birthday, so I have an excuse to have a Halloween themed birthday party, without putting anyone too much out of the way.
