9 Reasons Why Having Older Brothers Is The Best

Just because they're basically twice your age doesn't mean they're twice as lame.

I have two older brothers, 33 and 34 years old, and they definitely impacted my life in the best way possible. Even though they're roughly 15 years older than me, it was still like growing up with brothers my age, except a lot more mature. Here's why I think having really older brothers is the best.

1. They make all the mistakes before you do.

So your whole life you're told all about them. This not only helps you avoid making the same mistakes, but it makes it way easier to be the 'angel child.'

2. Since you're the youngest, you get the most spoiled!

Because, duh, you're the youngest... by a lot! (Which basically means the favorite, right?)

3. Their lives are already basically established.

So they're able to give you all the pointers to growing up in a much less "parenting" way. You guys are a part of the same generation, so they know much more about the world today than your parents do.

4. You can ask them basically anything, especially when you are uncomfortable asking your parents.

They've been through the whole awkward puberty stage a lot more recently than your parents anyway!

5. They have gone through a phase or two more of life than you have as a millennial.

So they can tell you all you need to know about what it's like to grow up in today's society, as opposed to what your mom and dad can tell you about growing up. Not to mention, it helps when you have to explain new slang and stuff to your parents, it takes more than one child to do that!

6. Because they've already gone through the whole 'living under mom's roof' stage, they know exactly how to push her buttons, so they teach you all the tricks and trades of getting your way.

7. They've got your back no matter what.

And because they're so much older, they definitely come off more intimidating which totally comes in handy because no matter what you know they'll fight for you.

8. They were boys once too!

They know exactly what a guy's intentions are right off the bat, so it's basically an unspoken rule to take your bro's word for it if that guy is a keeper or not. If you do keep that guy around though, he's got more than just one man to impress.

9. They teach you how to be mature for your age.

Without them, I don't think I would have the mindset I do now. They were in the stages of becoming a grown up way before me which I think helped a lot with me becoming mature and able to be serious when I need to be!

These are just a few reasons why having really older brothers, or just older brothers, in general, are the best! Without them, I definitely would not be the person I am today, and I couldn't thank them enough for it.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
