9 Reasons To Love the Tau Chapter Of Alpha Chi
Katherine Fuller

Alpha Chi Omega was founded on October 15, 1885. Every day we strive to live out the Symphony of Alpha Chiand be a light into the lives of others. I ran to my new home Tau Chapter on September 17, 2016. I could not see myself in any other home. We are one big happy family of beautiful and unique women. Alpha Chi means more to me than the name, it's a place where every day I am encouraged to become the best version of myself. Our home is filled with laughs, happiness, and the "Cutest girls in all the 50 States." As my journey continues in Alpha Chi here are 10 reasons why you should love the Tau Chapter of Alpha Chi.

1.We are Real.Strong.Women

Alpha Chi Omega strives to create real strong women. We are strong in our beliefs and character. We have 5 Main Characteristics that makes us who we are.

1 - Academic Interest
2- Character
3- Leadership Ability
4- Financial Responsibility
5- Personal Development

Through these characteristics we are able to make a difference in not only ourselves, but our community. We are also able to become example for others and give back through our service.

2. Our Philanthropy

We love our philanthropy. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. During this time we are making sure to bring awareness on all levels. You'll see us around school wearing purple or volunteering at Gateway. If you want to see the true heart of an Alpha Chi ask us about our philanthropy and the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation.

3. We Are Unique

Not one member in our house is the same. We all have something unique about ourselves. Whether we are artsy, from out of state, an athlete, or a dancer we all represent something different. Why be the same when it's so amazing to be different? Alpha Chi is not only bringing us together as one family, it's allowing us to grow as an individual in our own unique way.

4. LITB

Love in the bond. We always love each other and we are stronger together. No matter the situation we will always be there for our sisters. Our bonds cannot be broken. There isn't a better sisterhood to be apart of. We take care of and love each other through it all. Whether you just need some support, someone to talk to, or just a warm hug Alpha Chi is always there.

5. We Love to Sing

The Alpha Chi's love to sing. Whether it's our toast, symphony, or chants we love to harmonize with our sisters. You will constantly hear someone breaking out into song around the house or on campus.

6. AHS

Every Wednesday night our TV room is packed. The Alpha Chis love American Horror Story. Feel free to bring blankets and popcorn. The bigger the scare the better.

7. Our Memes & Videos

Snaps to Dat Boi.

Welcome to the home of memes. We have it all. So if you randomly hear a burst of laughs you'll know what from. Between weird Russian singers, tight pants, and more we love memes. Always remember "I'll sweep the floor to be an Alpha Chi."

8. We Love Dancing

At the AXO house we love to dance. Whether you are a dance major, psych, or GTA we all dance. Throw on some Summer 2000 Hits and it's a Party. Thanks to Devin H. the house knows the streamline and the stone skipper moves. So next time your feeling fancy come hang out with an Alpha Chi. No dance is too bad.

9. *SNAPS*

We love our snaps. so come on in our house and say something amazing you're bound to get a round of snaps. No need to look for the Alpha Chis at an event just listen for our snaps. We love to support our sisters!

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
