In honor of the Halloween spirit, I took it upon myself to attend Fright Fest at Six Flags Great America over the weekend. Halloween happens to be one of the most exciting time of year to many people - especially me. If you’re one of those people that likes to get the living daylights scared out of you and you’ve never been to Fright Fest, you might want to consider attending this Halloween season or at least some point in your life.
1. It's October.
This should be self-explanatory, but if it isn’t, let me break it down for you. October is full of all things related to Halloween. So why not check out Fright Fest at the beginning of the month to get a head start on all the Halloween festivities?
2. Tickets are cheaper around this time of year.
One of the only reasons why I don’t normally go to Six Flags is because of how high their ticket prices can get. Usually, I would have to pay around 75 dollars or more just go. That’s the beauty of Fright Fest. You see, this time around I had only paid 55 dollars to have the time of my life.
3. You can wear a costume.
At Fright Fest, every day is Halloween. Which is why people won’t look at you like you’re crazy if you show up wearing a costume the last weekend of September. So if you love dressing up in costumes any time around Halloween, Fright Fest is the place for you.
4. They have scary people running around in costumes.
Around this time of year, anything can be scary. You just never know when someone is going to jump out at you because Halloween is right around the corner. At Fright Fest that’s exactly what you can expect. Everywhere you turn there is someone covered with fake blood or claws ready to come out and attack you. Plus, if you’re a fan of the crazy Halloween makeup and special effects, you’ll get to see it firsthand.
5. There is always that adrenaline rush.
The roller coasters have an extra flare of spook that are sure to get your adrenaline rush flowing. But you don’t have to be a fan of roller coasters to enjoy Fright Fest. Right when you walk in, there is a fountain full of fake blood and walkways full of fog to get your heart pumping.
6. To say that you've experienced it.
Personally, I am not the biggest fan of roller coasters, but I still try to go on as many as my bladder allows me to. My Fright Fest experience was something that I’ll never forget. After being scared time and time again by the scary characters walking around and screaming in my face, I remember walking away laughing and having a good time. Fright Fest has always been something that I’ve heard about growing up as a fun and scary time for lovers of Halloween. If you’re a lover of Halloween and all things spooky, take this chance and make sure you go.
7. To face your fear of roller coasters.
As mentioned above, we all know that I am not the biggest fan of roller coasters. But this year, I was able to face my fear and try a ride that I never thought I would: The American Eagle. From what I’ve heard through friends, American Eagle is one of the oldest and highest rides Six Flags has to offer. I was definitely hesitant to go on it due to the old rickety structure, but being at Fright Fest put me in the mood. I had asked myself, “When am I going to have the chance to come back to Six Flags for Fright Fest anytime soon?” After much thought, I took it upon myself to face my fear and go on this ride. And guess what? I had a blast.
8. To try something new.
At the end of the day, don’t you want to look back and say you stepped outside of your comfort zone and loved every minute of it? If you’re looking to try something new, Fright Fest might be that little stepping zone to ease you out of your comfort zone. Stop spending your time in regret of not doing something you always wanted to do. Ride that roller coaster and scream your heart out.
9. To make some new Halloween-time memories..
What better time of year to make memories than around Halloween? Think about all of the pictures you can take and memories you can make by going to Fright Fest. From screaming on the roller coaster to screaming by being chased my scary people running around, Fright Fest will be sure to give you some memories to look back on and laugh about.
Fright Fest can be fun for just about anyone! This Halloween season, make sure you get the chance you get to visit Six Flags to use one of these nine reasons! It is truly worthwhile to make these crazy memories. As told in, "Monster's Inc.," "We scare because we care." Think about that as you visit this Fright Fest this year.
