Honestly, I have more guy friends than girlfriends....

When I got to college, I was ready to make new friends and experience all types of people. What I didn't know was that I was about to find out that one of the best types of friends wasn't what I was expecting at all. Guys that stick by your side through thick and thin because they are the brothers I never had.

1. NO Drama!

When you think about gossip and backstabbing, the finger is usually pointed at girls and not boys. Now don’t get me wrong, boys certainly have their problems too, but they are usually straight up with each other. Have a problem, say so!

2. They keep it real.

I can always count on my guy friends to be honest with me about anything from my outfit choices to whether I am making a good decision or not. They will tell me when I’m being crazy or stressing over nothing, even if I might not want to hear it.

3. They are the protective brothers you never had.

I never had brothers growing up, only one younger sister. My guy friends look after me while I’m away at school. Whether that is making sure I’m safe at a party, or ensuring I don't end up in an unsafe situation; they are always there when I need them. I love them for it!

4. They help you destress.

Day-to-day life can get quite stressful, and everyone needs someone they can turn to when they need some time to wind down and be themselves. I can be pretty high strung sometimes and the boys always know when I need a good laugh because they know everyone has their days.

5. There's no judgment.

They accept me for ME. That can be me at my best (with makeup and a nice outfit on) or my worst (right after my labs in my dowdy culinary uniform with no makeup and smelling like onions and a deep fryer) and I know they will accept me no matter what.

6. They keep you updated on random trivia.

Guys and girls naturally have different interests, but that keeps things interesting. They keep you updated on car releases, the trending topics on Reddit, what video game is topping the chart or what the coolest piece of tech is on the market right now.

7. You always have someone to talk to.

When I'm down I always know I can turn to my guy friends if I need to talk or work through a problem. They are great listeners when I need to vent and give great advice when I need it. I know they will tell me what they truly think and not just what I want to hear.

8. They'll keep your playlists fresh.

They introduced me to many different music styles that I had never listened to before I met them. Each one likes something a little different so I am always expanding my music library. They are also great to just turn up the music and jam with while on a car ride.

9. They're down for anything.

Whether that means getting lunch, a trip to the mall or a new adventure they are always down to hang.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
