9 Reasons Dry Shampoo Is Your New Best Friend

1. Monday mornings. Need I say more?

Mondays already stink. There’s nothing more depressing on Monday mornings than having to get up early to wash and style your hair. Enter dry shampoo, your new morning routine best friend. Go back to bed, ladies.

2. Volume, volume, volume.

A few spritzes of this life-altering powder will leave your hair higher than Willie Nelson. I lift my hair at the roots, spray, and rub clean when I want a voluptuous look (even if my hair isn’t necessarily greasy!) .

3. Your mid-day grease fix.

Right about the time your stomach grumbles at your desk at 3:00 is the moment you also notice your hair could use a lift. You comb it, but the day’s oils and dirt have brought it down and dingy. A bit of dry shampoo coupled with an afternoon snack makes me one happy lady until the clock strikes five.

4. It triumphs over humidity.

We’ve all been there- you straighten your hair in perfect fashion before you leave the house, but you step outside into the Amazon Rainforest. Hairdo = gone. Hello frizz. A little dry shampoo will at least tame your hair to keep the tears from rolling down your face.

5. It makes teasing your hair a breeze.

Dry shampoo is a great precursor to teasing (and even curling) your hair to get some extra poof under there.

6. Mondays.

Again, Mondays. I mean, every little bit helps, right?

7. The price point.

I have tried many brands of the stuff. I’ve grabbed bottles straight off the Walmart shelf and scoured through fancier brands at ULTA. Ironically, I’ve found the best formula to be Batiste ($5.99 at Target). I love it and use it so often that it’s a part of my regular grocery list. I keep a bottle in my car, a bottle in my desk, and at least two on hand in my bathroom at home. But at six dollars a bottle, it’s totally worth it.

8. It’s a tremendous TIMESAVER!

In college, I began to “train” my hair. That’s right, I said train. Ever heard of it? It basically refers to the process of adjusting the oil glands in your scalp to gradually produce less oil by washing your hair less. Thanks to dry shampoo, I was successful at it, and now I wash my hair every three days and live on dry shampoo in between. I have dry shampoo to thank for the procrastination time I have gained to not put toward other important items.

9. It works for GUYS, TOO!

That’s right. Nothing is less attractive than a dude who you can tell skipped his shower because the sun is bouncing off his shiny, greasy locks. Not to worry men, dry shampoo has you covered, too.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
