Recently, I’ve been trying to convince my boyfriend of all of the reasons why we need a dog. For some strange, incomprehensible reason, he absolutely hates dogs — really pets in general. He thinks they are stinky, clingy and a complete waste of time and money. *Insert knife stabbing me in the heart a million times*

He never grew up with a dog, just an outside cat whose sole purpose was to catch mice. Of course his family fed and cared for the cat, but the cat slept outside and wasn’t really a true member of the family.

Unlike him, I grew up with an amazing tea cup poodle, Abby. She is 12 years old now and she is literally a member of the family. She gets Christmas presents and has birthday parties, travels with us, sleeps in the same bed with us, plays with us — she is the perfect little fury companion. When I moved away for college, it was the hardest thing in the world to leave her behind, but of course I get to see her when I visit home.

But now, I’m settled into my new city and my new apartment, and all I can think about is getting a dog to officially make my new home a bit more "homey." I’m just feeling my biological clock ticking away, and if I don’t get a dog now, when will I ever be able to have one ?

Well, here are nine reasons why dogs are the perfect household or apartment companion:

1. They love to snuggle.

Snuggling is every dogs favorite thing. Sometimes, they might be crazy hyper during the day, but when they see you sit down on that couch, it's inevitable that they will be snuggled right in your arms for the perfect afternoon nap.

2. They add an extra dose of awesome to every single day!

I mean, look at that cute face. Could you imagine how much more awesome your days will be if you start out with the cutest smile from your beloved companion? And the fact that you get to come home to that every single day will ultimately make you work harder and faster throughout yours days so you can get home to your pup faster.

3. They love to love you.

When days are long and exhausting, and you just don't feel like dealing with people, your dog is always there to love on you and put a smile on your face again.

4. They are the best distraction.

The best distraction is the cutest distraction, and what could be cuter than your little fury friend reminding you it's time to take a break?

5. They force you to get your daily dose of exercise.

There is no escaping a daily walk or run with your dog. They need their exercise and play time, which means you have to get your lazy butt up and jump around with them outside. They literally make sure you are not an endless couch potato. #thankyoufuryfriend!

6. They are complete goofballs.

They remind you to never take life to seriously. Dogs are such goofballs that it's impossible for them not to make you laugh. From their leg twitching when you give them belly rubs all the way to the funny wiggles they give when they get excited or want a treat, they will always leave you smiling.

7. They will make sure you will never have to sweep the floor.

Who hates to sweep? I do! Ditch that vacuum because when you have a dog, they are definitely on food drop patrol (and they take it very seriously).

8. They are the best addition to every single date night!

What could be better than having a romantic outdoor brunch with your love, and bringing along your favorite fury love too? Nothing!

9. Their main goal is to get you to stay home with them and snuggle in bed...which is what we all want to do right?

Yes, there is no denying that dogs are extremely devious, but the sole reason for this deviousness is so they can get your stay home and have fun with them all day long. How flattering!

So hopefully this post inspires everyone to love dogs, especially a certain someone *cough cough* *ahem ahem* — you know who you are!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
