Dogs may be God's gift to mankind. I mean, how else can we explain how we lucked into getting these animals as man's best friend? Dogs have the uncanny ability to stick with us through thick and thin and they would do anything to make us smile. Here are 9 reasons why dogs might be the best thing that has ever happened to mankind.

1. No one is more excited when you come home.

You could be gone for hours or you could be gone for minutes. To your dog, it is all the same. All they know is that their best friend is finally home and nothing else really matters.

2. They are always down to work out with you.

And they never complain. Whether it is a run in the park or ab workouts at home, your dog is just happy to spend time with you.

3. They are always ready to help with the chores.

Even when it is an actual struggle, your best buddy is always happy to help you when you need it most. To you, it might be a day of work. But to them, it is getting time to hang out with their favorite person. And hey, they even make the work kind of adorable.

4. No one else can keep you on your toes quite like they do.

These guys are small fur babies and should be treated as such. They never really know why they are in trouble, but when they are, they always find a way to keep you laughing.

5. You have a built in cuddle buddy.

Whether you like it or not, dogs have no sense of personal space. All they want to do is cuddle you all the time, even if they are in the way.

6. They teach you to never take life too seriously.

Life is too short to not have fun every once in a while. As a human, it is easy for you to sometimes forget to enjoy the little things in life. Luckily, your dog knows how to remind you what is really important.

7. They will protect you from everyone and everything.

Your dog loves you like no one else can and, when danger approaches, they are the first on the job. They will do anything to keep you safe and when they can't, well hey, at least they gave it a shot.

8. No one understands your laziness more than they do.

Sometimes, other people may judge you for staying home in your pajamas all day. But, your dog thinks your laziness is cool and even loves to be lazy with you.

9. They never run out of unconditional love.

No matter how bad of a day you have had or what is going on in your life, your dog is always there to give you their love and support. We all know that work, school, and life, in general, can be tough, but at the end of the day, you are still your dog's number one.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
