9 Reasonable Reasons to Go Green

Everyone who enjoys the environment is not a "granola" who does yoga, only eats vegan, and makes their own organic deodorant in their house. There are plenty of people and plenty of reasons to Go Green.

1. Green is a result of health concerns: Air pollution, water pollution, sewage overflows, landfill overflows, What your food is made of, where it comes from, factory farming and more are the issues that concern us.

2. Going Green is a result of needing to respect the other creatures around us: We share a world with other beings that actually help the earth maintain homeostasis. You may laugh at the memes about bees dying at an alarming rate, but you won't be laughing when the impact of less pollination becomes apparent.3. Green is a solution for not wanting to live in filth: Even though some of us may live in filth in our respective dorm rooms, we can all appreciate a nice day on the quad.

4. Green will protect resources for our children: Recycling is key! Don't we want our children to have the same opportunities that we had if not better? 5. Green is the future of business: Notice how all of these companies are switching over to renewable resources? Notice how consumers are now becoming concerned about the environment? There is a lot of potential in green energy and green products.

6. Green is more cost efficient: You know, in some places you can generate so much power off of solar that you can sell it back to electrical companies? Why spend 4 dollars on gas when you can run your entire home for a profit?

7. Green is peaceful for you: Some people genuinely feel calmer when they are around nature. The integrity of these sacred spaces is at risk with human development and impact.

8. Green is aesthetically pleasing: Who doesn't enjoy a nice park or a hike? I certainly don't want to spend my time around waste.

9. Green gives you recreational enjoyment: Surfing, Skiing, Hiking, Biking, Kite Flying, Boating, Cross Country Running, and so many more fun activities are only possible because of nature.

Your impact does not have to be drastic. You do not need to start a farm in the backyard and rid of all electricity. Movement is made through small steps. Getting a reusable water bottle, opting out of a straw, reusable napkins, and not letting the water run when you brush your teeth are all things that you can do to make a change.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone does not try to help their self before asking others. How can someone else be expected to help you if you do not first do that yourself? I'm all about helping those that need it when the time comes, however whenever someone does not even attempt to help him or herself first then that becomes a huge problem. As we all have learned, people tend to take advantage of us in one way or another. I am sure we all read this short story when we were younger and it follows that same principle:

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.
