*SPOILERS AHEAD*
If you're a huge Gilmore Girls fan like me, there's a good chance you could not wait for the Gilmore Girls to return for our viewing pleasure, if only for a short time. Along comes, Black Friday, 2am and I am streaming A Year in the Life. I finished around 9am, a little disappointed. I felt like so much had been left hanging and almost like this revival was pointless. There were definitely redeeming qualities with Emily's story and Luke and Lorelai finally tying the knot, but there was still so much I feel needed to happen. I know the Palladinos had said they always wanted Gilmore Girls to be left open ended, but I don't believe this was the way to do it. Here are a few of the things I believe still need to be dealt with for the ending of Gilmore Girls to be truly fulfilling.
8. Can anyone else say MORE SOOKIE?
I know the main reason we didn't get nearly enough Sookie was because of scheduling conflicts, but if we got more of the series surely they could plan something so we could get more of Sookie as well.
7. What happens with Paris and Doyle?
I always thought Paris and Doyle were a great couple, even if sometimes it made no sense how they worked, but seeing them in the revival made me so sad. Doyle had become more of a self-centered person than I really thought he could be, not that Paris wasn't. It also hurt seeing how similar Paris had become to her mother. I was surprised that she hadn't tried harder to not depend so much on a nanny for her children. I know everything can't always be sunshine and rainbows, but I feel like their relationship could definitely take a turn for the better. Also, how CUTE are their kids?
6. The Inn is expanding.
Am I the only one who desperately wants to see how Lorelai expands the Dragonfly? Also, will it be the thing Michel needs to finally decide to stay? We should have at least gotten a scene with Lorelai telling Michel she was expanding and his reaction to the news! I need to know that Michel won't leave. I need it.
5. What happens with Rory's book?
Does she finish it? Does it get published? Does Lorelai hate it? What are Emily's feelings on it? So many questions I want so badly. This is one of the things I could accept being open-ended, but that doesn't mean I don't still pine after the answers.
4. We didn't find out who actually wrote that letter to Emily on her birthday.
The letter Emily brought up in one of her therapy sessions with Lorelai was one of big, heated discussion. Emily insisted that it was real and Lorelai insisted that she never knew of such a thing. My theory? It was written by Richard's mother, also named Lorelai, whom we know was never really a big fan of Emily. But, alas, we may never know!
3. Rory didn't really seem like Rory.
In this revival, Rory honestly seemed to have continued the way she was after leaving Yale; it even seemed to get worse. I can understand how finding work in the field she studied isn't always the easiest thing, but being Logan's mistress? String along Paul? Having one night stands while she's technically in two other relationships? Who even is this person? This is one reason I will always be Team Jess; he was always the one to set her straight when she really needed it.
2. We didn't find out who Rory ends up with.
I personally am a huge Jess fan, and people have said before that Logan is Rory's Christopher while Jess is her Luke, but my heart needs to know who she spends the rest of her life with. This is also important to me because whoever Rory ends up with will most likely be helping her raise her baby. I know Rory went to Christopher to talk to him about Lorelai raising her on her own, but what if Logan changes and Rory does end up being with him for good, raising their child together? I'd honestly be happy with some random guy though if it couldn't be Jess. SO much we need to know!
I am forever Team Jess, for tons and tons of reasons.
1. RORY IS PREGNANT.
Like I said above, I think finding out who Rory ends up with is an important aspect of her pregnancy as well. Will she raise the child (most likely Logan's) on her own, with a different man, or will Logan leave his fiance to be with Rory and raise their baby?
I know it is a long shot for all of these things to be resolved, but another chance at a few of them would be enough for me.
