9 Questions Sorority Girls Are Tired of Hearing
Read Unwritten

There are plenty of questions sorority girls are tired of being asked and here are a few of them.

1. So, you pay for your friends now...?

No, but if I did I should be paying a hell of a lot more. My dues go to the chapter. They fund events and fuel the chapter to support the organization at a national level.

2. You’re in a sorority, you don’t look like a sorority girl?

Thanks? One of the things I love most about being in a sorority that I can be involved in many other different parts of campus and not be titled as a stereotypical "Sorority Girl."

3. Do you love ALL your sisters?

No. Surprising I know!! But just like you’re family, we don’t have to love each other all the time but we have to respect one another.

4. What was the hazing like?

I wouldn’t know. No seriously, Greek life is starting to make stricter guidelines on hazing. My sorority has strict no hazing rules and instead educated and taught us values and traditions through bonding, strengthened our chapter.

4. Do you go out every night of the week?

God no. We have sisters taking the MCAT's and LSAT's. Sisters working full time as well as being full time students. We have sisters on the Dean’s list. And even a sister in the army. Most weekends you can find sisters studying in the library later than any party goer.

5. Why are you so obsessed with your little?

Your little is perfect. She just is. It’s not something required by the sorority. But after taking someone under your wing and caring for them as a big sister they become your world and the obsession takes over. It sounds creepy but it’s not as psycho as we sometimes make it out to be.

6. Why do you have to have a certain GPA?

Standards are put in place to make sure that potential new members and current sisters uphold a minimum GPA. Sororities are not all about partying... WOW!?

7. What’s your “Philanthropy?"

People always ask what my “Philanthropy” is, like it’s some made up unicorn we hide behind to look like good human beings. In reality it is the basis of what sororities are founded on. We have mandatory community service events as well as 10+ hours of community service to complete on our own. Sororities teach sisters how to give back and how to have a little fun doing it as well.

9. Do you only date frat guys

Some do just because we party a lot with frat guys. But usually most of us date guys who are not affiliated with Greek life. Some of us don’t even date guys.

So there you have it. Get used to these questions newly initiated sisters and even current sisters. People never get tired of asking these questions. Hopefully one day we can ride the stereotype that sorority girls are just a bunch of drunken party girls.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
