Now that the semester is over it's that time of the year: the holiday season.
This means most people are packing up and going back to their hometown. This also means that you get to hear the same things from your parents.
Here are 9 things I guarantee your parents will say over break:
"When are you coming home?"
I get this question every year right before I come home. I have to tell my mom 5 times what day I'm coming home. It hasn't changed since the first time you asked me.
"How was your semester?"
What you say: good. But what you really want to say: I had 50 emotional breakdowns, I spent way too much time in the library, and made some bad decisions.
"When are you going to be home?"
When you go back home it's like you're back in high school again. They expect you to be home at a specific time and tell them what you're doing.
"Are you hanging out with *Insert friend from high school's name*?"
Well, this could be awkward especially if you haven't talked to that person in months. Even if you have they might not be the first person you are eager to see.
"Did you leave the house today?"
Nope. I didn't because this is BREAK. I haven't had the chance to relax all semester and I'm going to take every opportunity to do that before I have to go back.
"Are you going to do anything fun over break?"
When are you going to understand I don't have that many friends here and I just want to go back to school? But not do the school part.
What do you want for dinner?
I want any food you will give me. I miss having home cooked meals. I would also like to bring back as much left overs as possible.
"Do you need money?"
Yes, yes I do. Are you going to give it to me? Maybe, maybe not.
"When are you going back to school?"
You can't always tell if this is a, "I don't want you to leave" question or a "I'm sick of you" question. But, either way, I'm going to leave whenever I feel like it.
Parents always ask a million questions. It might seem like annoying or too many but whatever, you'll be back up at school in no time.
