In Rupi Kaur's new book "The Sun and Her Flowers", Kaur pulls at your heart strings and leaves you reminiscing about your past loves. This poetry book is written with raw passion and emotion; not only will this article have your emotions running, but Kaur lifts you up with her self-confidence and helps you find healing for yourself. Not only is "The Sun and Her Flowers" a must-read, but so is her freshman poetry collection "milk and honey".

1.

We all deserve someone who is willing to stay, who won't just leave when the going gets tough. Rupi Kaur reminds us gently that while we may want someone who did leave us that we don't need them, nor do we deserve someone who isn't 100% on our side.

2.

In this poem, Kaur captures that feeling after the end of a relationship, when all you wish is to be with that person. You become jealous of their friends who still get to spend time with that person. After going to them with everything, to not being able to go to them is hard. They became a comfort and losing that sense of comfort sucks.

3.

All too often I find myself wishing I were in the future. I can't wait for the days when I am finally done with college, sadly this doesn't happen overnight. It is a process. The same goes for self transformations. Recovery after depression is also a process, while it would be great to wake up one day and not be depressed it doesn't work that way.

4.

The answer is nothing. After being hurt, and having our hearts broken, we still love. We may be more cautious about who we love, how fast we love, or how we show our love, but we still love with the same magnitude as before. The strength that not only our hearts show, but we as humans show is incredible. It may take time, but it is a process.

5.

Sometimes to experience the highest of highs, you must experience the lowest of lows. If every moment of life was amazing, then life wouldn't be the roller coaster that it is. It is okay to break, because sometimes that is exactly what is needed to blossom into the best version of yourself.

6.

Mothers are why and how we exist, without them we are nothing. They give up nights of good sleep, money, time, their sanity, sometimes even their own well being, and they expect exactly nothing in return. Mothers are the reason this world goes around.

7.

Moving on can be so difficult. It means that your past relationships are actually over. I, myself, have trouble accepting things that I don't want to be true, but we also owe it to ourselves to move on and continue our lives. Kaur captures this hard transition in this poem

8.

Kaur understands the uniqueness that everyone has. Everyone brings something a bit different to the table and that is what is so beautiful about this world. There is not a single person in this world that is just like you. Don't doubt yourself, because you are so capable of so much more than you know.

9.

The only person that you can 100% rely on is yourself. It is important to find love for yourself and love the home you live in. You are whole all by yourself. You don't need someone to complete you.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
