Recruitment is hectic to say the least. You have to remember door chants as well as the names and conversations you have with dozens of girls. However, the lead up to recruitment can be difficult as well as house require their members to find and wear very specific clothing items for recruitment. Finding clothes in certain colors, fabrics, and styles can be a huge struggle, so here are some stores that I would recommend giving a try.

1. Forever 21

Forever 21 is a great place to buy recruitment clothes when you’re looking for something cheap that you’re probably only going to wear once. Forever 21 is also a good place to find basic, inexpensive jewelry.I recommend looking here if you want to buy cheap denim shorts or skirts that as they have many different styles in lots of different washes. It is the best place to find strange colored shoes as well. Last year for recruitment quite a few of my sorority sisters bought grey heels from here as they were only around $20 and difficult to find anywhere else.

2. Charlotte Russe

I’ve never ordered anything from Charlotte Russe, but I know a lot of people who have for recruitment and who have been very pleased with what they have received. One thing I love about Charlotte Russe is that they are aware that women come in more than one size and have items in more sizes than most companies offer.

3. Nordstrom Rack

Go here for shoes! You won’t always walk away with the shoes you were looking for, but you may stumble upon what you were looking for at a discounted price. After checking store after store for grey heels that were actually cute, I found a pair at Nordstrom Rack that was cute and half price.

4. H&M

H&M is a great place to find basic items that are well made and will last you a while. They have lots of basic dresses under $15 in colors that change seasonally.

5. Lulus

Lulu’s is the best place to look for dresses as they have a ton of styles in an array of different colors. (PSA: This is also a great place to get formal dresses!) Additionally, this is a great store to find suede heels in every color you could imagine.

6. Target

Target is great if you’re looking for a relatively cheap pair of basic black or nude heels or basic gold or silver jewelry. Target is also a fantastic place to look for sandals, as they usually have many different styles that are actually comfortable.

7. American Eagle

If you’re looking to invest in a good pair of denim shorts or a skirt, check out American Eagle. They have lots of different styles and washes and while they are more expensive than Forever 21, they will also last you a while.

8. Amazon

While I personally have never bought clothing or shoes from Amazon, I have heard great things from my sorority sisters. Apparently, Amazon is a good place to find stylish dresses and rompers for really cheap.

9. ASOS

While ASOS’s clothes are not the cheapest, it is a great place to look if you want clothing that actually has character, instead of the basic items you’ll find at a lot of stores. ASOS also has lots of different styles and colors of shoes than most companies. ASOS offers more sizes than most companies.

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.
