1. It's okay to be vulnerable. Being vulnerable is not just about showing the parts of you that are shiny, beautiful and perfect. It’s about laying your armor down and revealing what you deny and hide from others. Do it and you will feel 100 pounds off your shoulders. After that, your choices will be a little bit clearer.
2. You don't need to have a significant other to feel accomplished. As a young adult, this is a time period critical for your personal growth instead focusing on fulfilling the wishes of another individual. It's neither beneficial to you nor your significant other. However, a small handful of people have it figured it out. Kudos to them. But don't feel bad if you don't. Focusing on romantic relationships not only makes you unsatisfied with where you are in life, but it also makes you boring.
3. This is 2015, powerful women are no longer a myth-- they are everywhere! From Emma Watson to Angela Merkel to Hilary Clinton, these women have shattered the glass celling and crawled to the top in a male-dominated world. Look to these woman as inspiration in your 20s. Aspire to be this generations batch of powerful women.
4. Hold on to your true friends. By the time you reach 20, that list is dwindling down. You might fight sometimes, but it doesn't mean you love them any less. Be there for them during their highs and lows and they will return the favor.
5. Don't let anything get in your way. Imagine your vision, a career goal, a path after college and don't let anything stand your way. As long as you know what you want and have the drive, anything is possible. Cliché but true.
6. Find happiness in things you've always loved even when you're at your breaking point. For Blair (and me), it was shopping. It's hard to remember to treat yourself on daily basis when you have a billion tasks on hand. Doing what you love will keep you sane and functioning properly.
7. You are not a slave to fate. You always have a choice. Destiny tends to be a go to excuse when things don't go our way or we are afraid to take a risk. We have the power to make choices, remember that and make a difference in your life.
8. As Harper Lee once said, "Things are never as bad as they seem". It's all about mindset. At the moment, liking your crush's Instagram photo from 121 weeks ago might seem life-destroying, but it will become a distant memory. Close your eyes and breathe slowly-- this too will pass
9. If all else fails. Relax, it won't last forever.
