9 Things People With Chronic Injuries/Pain Are Tired of Hearing

If I weren't in excruciating pain right now, I would probably be at the gym, or on a walk... not having this conversation.

Okay, let's start right off the bat by saying chronic injuries/chronic pain is the worst thing ever. I cannot even begin to describe how frustrating doing normal everyday things can become if you have chronic injuries/chronic pain. For me personally, I have knees that pretty much hate me. They are the bane of my existence. My knees dislocate all the time, they swell, they pop in and out of place, and so many really painful/annoying things. People typically always say the same things to me regarding my knees, and I'm sick of hearing the same things all the time!

1. "You're injured AGAIN?"

Well, no...but yes? I mean, I never was not injured, but I'm not injured again...how do I even answer this?

2. "Crutches again? You're making excuses."

Oh, no. No, no, no. Just because I'm on crutches today and maybe not tomorrow doesn't mean I'm making excuses. It means that today, I was hurting more than usual and I needed some help.

3. "You're babying it!"

I'm not babying my leg by not walking on it. If I literally can't put any weight on it without it giving out and causing even more pain.

4. "When will it heal?"

Probably never, but thanks for asking!

5. "Wait, so you deal with this all the time?"

Yep! Yes, I do! Isn't it fantastic? *queue me, rolling my eyes and mumbling under my breath*

6. "Isn't there something that can fix it?"

Probably. But if I could get the surgery or whatever could help, don't you think I would? I either can't afford it or the success rate isn't high enough to even try...

7. "So, like, how much does it hurt?"

What a stupid question! It hurts a bunch! I can't even begin to tell you!

8. "How come it only happens sometimes?"

I'm not sure, but if you figure it out, please tell me.

9. "Are you sure that you're actually in pain and you're not just trying to get out of doing things?"

I'm absolutely sure. If I weren't in excruciating pain right now, I would probably be at the gym, or on a walk...not having this conversation.

I didn't choose to be in pain and I didn't choose to have an injury that comes and goes all the time. These things that people say are getting really old. If you are someone who is asking/saying this stuff, please stop.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
