The new year calls for new resolutions. 2017 is quickly approaching and it's time to reinvent yourself and have an even better year than the current one. Everybody stresses about having only one New Years' resolution and making it perfect. On New Years it's totally okay to have multiple resolutions.

Taking on these resolutions will surely improve your year and help you improve yourself!

1. Stop Procrastinating

It's time to get things done. No more being lazy. If you have something to do, do it!

2. Meet new people

Go out and be as social as possible. Meeting new people increases your chances of new opportunities. Make new friends and have fun, you never know what will happen!

3. Take chances

Don't doubt the things you do, if something new and interesting comes up, grab it and run with it.

4. Grab more sleep

Sleep is a very vital key to staying healthy. It's important to get the right number of hours of sleep to have a successful day the next day. Schedule naps during the day and a certain time to go to bed.

5. Take on more "me time"

Your life is about you. It's important to shower yourself with love and things you like to do. Do more things for yourself and stop worrying about everybody else. Make sure to schedule times to go to the mall, or get a manicure or even just relax.

6. Spend more time with people that matter

Don't waste your time on ignorant people who you don't care about. Use 2017 as a tool to narrow down who your true friends are.

7. Become organized

Organization is key. No more mess around the house or in your workplace. Take the time to organize your life and be more keen with it, it's important!

8. Learn to rely on yourself more

You won't always have people helping you out with things. You have to rely on yourself to get things done. Make sure when you take on something you are able to successfully complete it without heavily relying on others.

9. Learn to be happier with life

"I choose to be happy today!" Wake up and say that quote every day. If you follow that, your year will be full of positiveness.

Happy New Year!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
