With school out and the entire summer ahead, sometimes it can be daunting to figure out something to do. Here's where Netflix comes in: binge watching a show is always a great option when looking for activities over the summer (or any time of the year). And while there are many choices on Netflix, here are a few of the top recommendations to watch this summer.
1. Breaking Bad
This is a great show to binge watch. It is very interesting to watch the characters grow throughout the series. Every episode leaves you wanting more, and just when you think you know what is going to happen next they throw you a curve ball. Bryan Cranston also plays Walter White perfectly!
2. Dexter
If you are looking for a show that is a little more gruesome than normal, then "Dexter" is for you. This show will leave you rooting for a serial killer as he is hunted by the very people he works for. I will admit the series finale was lack-luster, but the series as a whole will keep you thoroughly entertained.
3. How I Met Your Mother
HIMYM is the perfect comedy. It tells a story while continuously making you laugh with sarcasm, slap-stick, puns, and running jokes. It is a show that you can get emotionally invested in, and never want to end.
4. Blue Mountain State
If you are heading off to college this is the perfect show to to let you know how college won’t be. BMS does a perfect job of satirizing the college football/frat experience. It will leave you laughing and wishing you went to a school like that.
5. House
Hugh Laurie plays a perfect Dr. Gregory House. Through his witty sarcasm and apparent lack of concern, his deep-rooted emotional problems are displayed perfectly. The patients he treats can get somewhat repetitive, but the pranks and antics that occur outside the patient’s room are worth the watch. You will find yourself feeling sorry for the drug addict that is given every opportunity to get better.
6. Burn Notice
In this show you follow Michael Weston, a burned spy dumped in Miami, as he tries to clear his name and find out who burned him. You will be intrigued by the methods he uses to get the job done. Throughout the show there will always be twist here you least expect it and you slowly dive into Michael’s background as you get emotionally invested.
7. The League
If you know anything about fantasy football, then "The League" is the perfect show for you. It does a perfect job of satirizing how invested people get into their fantasy leagues, and will always leave you laughing.
8. Firefly
"Firefly" is the perfect show to sit down and watch in day. It is only 14 episodes long, but you will get so invested the multiple emerging story lines that you will never want it to end. As space westerns go it is one of the best. Even though it was cancelled after one season there was so much demand to bring it back that they made a movie to wrap it up, called Serenity, that can also be found on Netflix.
