Whether it's during fall break, Thanksgiving break or Christmas break, you'll probably be embarking on a road trip sometime in the upcoming months. Any drive that is longer than three hours is what I consider to be a "road trip," and I don't know if there is anything more exciting to me than those two words! Aside from the obvious GPS, there are certain necessities that must be included in order for any road trip to be a success! These are my top nine:
1. Tunes
Perfect road tripping music is essential. Scanning the radio can get frustrating and driving for hours in silence is noone's idea of a good time, so make sure to have a rockin' playlist prepared!
2. Snacks
Before you hit the road, hit up your local grocery store or gas station and stock up on all of the junk foods that you want. Trust me, you'll be glad that you did.
3. Awesome company
Make sure to invite all of your best friends to join you on your excursion! Nothing is better than getting close friends together for few hours to laugh, act crazily and just talk.
4. Views
The best road trips are the ones where you're constantly looking out of your car window because the area that you're driving through is just so beautiful. Even if it takes 15 or 30 extra minutes, take the scenic route!
5. Fun pit Stops
Visiting at a friend or relative's house along the way or stopping by a Starbucks are just two great ways that you can break up your long drive!
6. Comfortable clothes
Put together your best "I woke up like this" look, and prepare for hours of sitting in the same position.
7. Oil for your car
You never know when that Check Engine Light is going to turn on..
8. Phone storage
You're going to be taking hundreds of photos, so making sure that you have enough storage is a MUST. Or you could just save yourself a step and use a real camera!
9. The heart of an adventurer
This sounds lame, but it's actually the most important! Be excited, open-minded and easygoing on your road trip!! If you take a wrong turn, see it as an adventure rather than a delay. Enjoy every moment of the journey, and don't get caught up in the destination. :)
