9 Must-Try Restaurants In Chicago

If you find yourself in Chicago this Winter break or if you're one of those lucky fellows that gets to call Chicago "home," then you should check out one or all of these restaurants.

1. The Angry Crab

If you're a seafood fanatic, then you should definitely visit The Angry Crab in West Rogers Park. Their seafood has a cajun twist which is sure to hit the spot. The wait may be long, but absolutely worth it. It's BYOB so be sure to bring your drink of choice.

2. Chi Cafe

No better place to eat Chinese food than in Chinatown, am I right? I found myself in Chinatown one day and decided to try out this restaurant. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. Their menu is about 10 pages long and offers a variety of options. The crab rangoon, shrimp fried rice and beef and broccoli are to die for. The best part about this restaurant? Every plate offers food to fill more than just one person and is inexpensive.

3. Star of Siam

Craving some Thai food? Star of Siam is the place to go. Located downtown, this cozy restaurant is sure to please. Be sure to order a plate of crab rangoon, larb salad, and cashew chicken.

4. Boiler Room

Gourmet pizza slices at a low cost. From mac and cheese to BBQ there's a slice to feed every craving you may have. Be sure to order their boozy soft serve special.

5. Chicago's Home of Chicken & Waffles

The picture alone makes you want to give this restaurant a visit. No need to even look at the menu. Order the chicken and waffles and you'll be left speechless. That's how good it is.

6. Burrito Jalisco

Don't let this restaurant's location mislead you. Although it is right next to a gas station, this Mexican restaurant offers a variety of options that are delicious. My go-to: skirt steak with green onions and a tamarind margarita.

7. La Palapa

Owner Alejandro Guerra, says, "What I do is make people happy through food," and he sure is great at it. The empanadas de camaron and charolada de mariscos are a must. Be sure to bring your drink of preference because this place is BYOB.

8. Sapori Trattoria

Italian food is my absolute favorite. So, naturally, when I dined at this restaurant I was over the moon. The ambience is romantic and the food is to die for. Order the cappellacci all'aragosta a.k.a. the pasta stuffed with lobster; you'll want to order some to-go.

9. Latinicity

Somewhat new to Chicago, Latinicty offers a unique twist on Latin street food. I've only been once and I'm already planning my next visit. There are 10 different kitchens that offer the following: tapas, tortas, ceviche, salads, seafood, tacos, hamburgers, soups, etc. Don't be the last person in Chicago to try out this food hall and lounge.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone does not try to help their self before asking others. How can someone else be expected to help you if you do not first do that yourself?
