The beginning of the school year is rapidly approaching and students everywhere are already beginning to stress out over upcoming classes. At least, I know I am anyways. However, in the midst of this hectic time of year, it's important to remember the finer points of life...such as adorable animals that you have the pleasure of existing on the same planet with. The following incredibly, nauseatingly cute animals have some very important messages for you when it comes kicking back and keeping your cool.

1. Baby Platypus

Platypuses (yes, the plural of platypus is platypuses, not platypi) are admittedly one of my favorite animals and I’m quite partial to their cuteness. This little guy seems to say, “Hey, man. It’s okay to kick back and relax sometimes. Take a break, you look like you need it!”

2. Baby Chameleon

The smaller the animal, the more I want to cuddle it! "Take some time to work on your mental health," says this itty bitty chameleon. "Don't let anyone or anything get in the way or your personal time!"

3. Baby Bunny

Goodness gracious. Look at those ears. Tiny lil' bun is listening closely to what you have to say because he thinks it's very important! "Tell me more," he says. He really enjoys talking to you!

4. Baby Corgi(s)

Wow. You're so well liked by all of your corgi friends. They rally around you because you're so darn cool. "Go out and socialize to the best of your ability," they say. "You could use some face to face interaction!"

5. Baby Elephant

"It's alright to have insecurities about your self image. I'm not confident about my ears, but I'm still a really great conversationalist!"

6. Baby Sloth

This little sloth thinks you should chill. "Calm down, friend. I know you're feeling a little anxious right now, but you're going to be alright. Take a nap in order to clear your mind!" Baby sloth knows you quite well.

7. Baby Penguin

If you have a minute today, call your family and let them know how you're doing. "Family is really important," says the incredibly cuddly penguin. "Make sure you're keeping in touch! They're super proud of you, even if they don't show it sometimes."

8. Baby Chipmunk

"Have you eaten today, bud? Take care of yourself! I want to make sure you're well fed and taken care of!" Baby Chipmunk is really concerned with your health and wellbeing. He sure does care about you!

9. Baby Otter

Baby Otter is reaching towards you in order to give you a hug. How otter-ly adorable! He knows that you're trying your hardest and he's proud of all of your many accomplishments. "Wow, friend! Keep up the good work!."

Whenever you're feeling down you can always look to these cute baby animals in order to regain your sense of self worth. You're going to have an absolutely wonderful year, so get out there and do great things!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
